Uniform Wear Off Base Limited An increased force protection policy is in effect that curtails the wear of uniforms by service members off military installations. Effective immediately, service members shall not wear uniforms while using public transportation or get out of their personal vehicle while traveling in uniform. Military PT uniforms are also not authorized for use off base. Shuttle Bus Policy Reminder Priority seating for the shuttle buses between Capodichino and the Support Site is for transitioning personnel in TLA and single or unaccompanied Sailors. Please respect and enforce this policy to support our newcomers and junior sailors. If the bus appears to be getting full and you are not in one of these categories, please do the right thing and remove yourself from the line or give up your seat. Leadership who ride the bus are asked to help enforce this, but we request everyone's support in adhering to the policy. Submit Questions for Upcoming All-Hands Call with CNO and MCPON In celebration of the Navy's 239th birthday, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) will hold a worldwide all-hands call on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. local. The event will be televised on the Pentagon Channel and viewable online without the chat function at www.navy.mil, or with the chat function at www.livestream.com/usnavy. Questions may be submitted in advance by emails to socialmedia@navy.mil or posted during the all-hands call via www.livestream.com/usnavy. Personnel submitting questions should include their name, rank and command. Town Hall Meeting with Capt. Doug Carpenter NSA Naples Commanding Officer Capt. Doug Carpenter will host a Town Hall meeting for all personnel and families assigned to the Naples area on Tuesday, Oct. 21. It will be held at the Reel Times 2 Theater on Support Site at 6 p.m. There will be time for a question-and-answer session and any questions for the Town Hall can also be directed to the Public Affairs office at DSN 626-5912 or messaged to the NSA Naples Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NSANaples. Base Pool Fall/ Winter Hours of Operation and Swim Lessons The Capodichino base pool has resumed its fall/winter hours and is open from 5 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on U.S. holidays. Group and private swim lessons are available at the Capodichino base pool on Saturdays. Registration begins Oct. 1 at the pool office on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Oct 4: Paintball at Carney Park Bring your family and friends or come play against others for some exciting paintball fun. Open Paintball runs from 10 a.m. to noon at a cost of $10 per person, ages 15 years and above. Group Paintball runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at a cost of $50 (up to 6 people) for ages 10 and above. Oct 4: Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Fun Run A Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Fun Run is scheduled to take place at the Support Site on Saturday, Oct. 4. Registration begins at 7 a.m. in front of the Support Site Fitness Forum with the race starting at 8 a.m. Race cost is $5 (no euro) for the run and $5 per T-shirt (optional). Oct. 6: ShipShape Weight Management Program at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples U.S. Naval Hospital Naples will be hosting the ShipShape Weight Management Class starting on Monday, Monday, October 6th at the Health Promotions conference room on Support Site from 3 to 4 p.m. A session at Capodichino will start on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Branch Health Clinic Dental conference room from 3 to 4 p.m. Classes will continue for eight weeks with meetings at the same time and location. Oct. 6: Deadline for Start Smart Flag Football (3-4 year olds) The deadline for Start Smart flag football for 3-4 year olds has been extended until Monday, Oct. 6. Community members can sign up at the Support Site Youth Center. The parents' meeting is rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Support Site Youth Center. The coaches meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. just prior. Oct. 9: Hospital Celebrates National Customer Service Week Community members are invited to join U.S. Naval Hospital Naples on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon for a Customer Service Fair. Several departments from around the hospital will have displays about services provided and hospital staff will be available to answer questions. There will be a cake-cutting ceremony immediately following the fair to celebrate National Customer Service Week. For additional information, contact Merrillyn Bair at DSN 629-6319. Oct 9: College Night at Naples High School College Night will be held at the Naples High School from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9. High school seniors and others are welcome to come find out about scholarships, GI Bill transfer, 529 College Savings Plan and more at this year’s College Night. Representatives and graduates from various colleges will share information about their programs. Snacks and beverages will be sold by s2s and the volleyball team. Oct 12, 14: Capitol Movement Dance Company Clinics and Show Participate in a free dance clinic at the Support Site Fitness Forum led by the Capitol Movement Dance Company. On Sunday, Oct. 12 all preschool, school age children and teens are invited for a 2 p.m. clinic while adults are invited at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, Oct. 14 the professional dancers will perform at 5 p.m. at the Support Site Fitness Forum. Oct. 18: 2014 Naples Area Navy Ball in Castel Volturno The Naples Area Navy Ball will be held in Castel Volturno on Saturday, Oct. 18. The guest speaker for this year’s special occasion to celebrate the Navy’s 239th birthday is Adm. Mark Ferguson, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples. Uniform for the event is Dinner Dress Blue or Black Tie for all attendees. The Navy Ball committee is selling tickets Oct. 3 at the U.S. Naval Hospital Naples quarterdeck from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Support Site Navy Exchange from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Parents Night Out through the Child Development Center (CDC) will be held from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. in conjunction with the Navy Ball; sign up now if interested. Oct 18, 25: Parents’ Day and Night Out Parents can take a night off on Saturday, Oct 18 (Navy Ball) from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. or a day off on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Child Development Center will be open so parents can enjoy the time with spouses, family or friends. Oct. 22-23: ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training The Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO) team from Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia will hold an ASIST workshop for everyone who wants to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide in our community. Volunteers and Trick or Treat Space Decorators Needed for Spooktacular This year’s Spooktacular event will be held at Support Site Central Park on Friday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. Teens and adults can register to volunteer for the hayride, distribute tickets, decorate the event or help out with activities. Groups, families and private organizations can adopt a trick or treat space for free. You have to decorate and staff with personnel to give out candy, which MWR will provide. Trick or Treat Space Decorators could win a Bowling Party or 3D Movie Party for up to 30 people. Oct 11: NOR Trekking Day Trip Navy Outdoor Recreation (NOR) is offering a trekking day trip on Saturday, Oct. 11 on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Campania Region. The trip cost is $30 per person and is open to those 15 years and older, but under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Get your hiking boots ready and sign up by Oct. 6. Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27: NOR Archery 4-Day Course Learn the techniques of using a bow and arrow during a four-day NOR Archery Course held every Monday in October. It will take place at the Support Site Youth Center Gym from 6 to 7 p.m. and is open to those 10 years or older, but anyone under 17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
