Reminder: Uniform Wear Off Base Limited The current force protection policy curtails the wear of uniforms by service members off military installations. Service members shall not wear uniforms while using public transportation or get out of their personal vehicle while traveling in uniform to and from work. The base shuttle bus is not considered public transportation. Military PT uniforms are also not authorized for use off base. Air Conditioning Shutoff Schedule The A/C shutoff schedule is below for Support Site housing. This procedure does not require entry to any units, and families will not be disturbed during the process. Please note that due to the design in the equipment, the heat may not available for 24 to 48 hours after the A/C is turned off. If the heat is not working 48 hours after A/C turn-off, please contact the Housing trouble desk at 629-4285/86 or 081-811-4285/86 for assistance. The Town Hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Support Site movie theater to discuss the conversion of these buildings to Unaccompanied Housing. The conversion will allow for increased quality of life opportunities for the single Sailors currently residing in the Capodichino barracks. Command Holiday Greeting Card Contest Commands and private organizations can create a Holiday Greeting Card to be displayed along the Support Site entrance from Dec. 3 to Jan. 2. The 8 x 4 foot of plywood can be picked up at the Auto Wood Skills Center beginning Tuesday, Nov. 4. Winners will be announced at the MWR Holiday Tree Lighting event on Friday, Dec. 5. The first place


winners receive eight certificates (up to five people each) for free bowling lanes at Strikers. Judging will consider logo, best winter holiday theme and creativity (color and design). Participants should ensure the card can withstand the wind and rain. Cards must be turned back in to the skills center by Dec. 2. Support Site Post Office Point-of-Sale Computer Down Due to a failure with the primary Point-of-Sale computer, the Support Site post office is unable to conduct walk-in transactions requiring the sale of stamps, money orders and insurance. The system is expected to be repaired by Nov. 4. Community members can register online at www.USPS.com for the Click and Ship service by selecting the ‘Click.Print.Ship.’ tab. Customers can pay for and print postage on the USPS site for flat rate boxes at home and then bring them in. If the member cannot utilize a flat rate box, then the post office can weigh the parcel and that weight can be used to generate postage from the Click and Ship computer in the post office. Customers are welcome to use the Click and Ship computer in the post office if unable to print from home. If there are any questions, please contact the Support Site post office at DSN 629-4335. New Defense Logistics Agency Procedures for Naples Aviano now serves as the full-scale hub for Northern Italy and fully supports customers in Naples regarding Disposition Services. For turn-ins, visit: www.dispositionservices.dla.mil/drmo/Pages/aviano.aspx. Schedule your turn-in via the online scheduling tool to optimize efficiency and enable DLA to provide you one-on-one support: https://vsm.distribution.dla.mil/scheduler. All property turned into DLA Disposition Services requires a completed DD Form 1348-1A and required certificates. To streamline processing, usable and demilitarize-required property will be shipped to Aviano. However, scrap and hazardous waste processing will be coordinated in advance with DLA Disposition Services personnel as scrap and hazardous waste is not shipped. Property will be shipped at the generator’s expense to Aviano (DoDAAC SGP180). Pay close attention to the turn in of computers or electronics and follow appropriate guidelines by N6. Flu Vaccines Available at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples Department of Defense ID card holders and their families can stop by the Immunization Clinic on the 1st Floor of U.S. Naval Hospital Naples at Support Site to get their free flu vaccination. The clinic is open Monday to Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays from 7:30 to 11:45 a.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call Preventive Medicine at DSN 629-6299 or 081-811-6299 if you have any questions. Lost and Found at NSA Naples Security operates the lost and found program for Naval Support Activity Naples. Items found on base should be turned into either the Capodichino or Support Site Security precinct. Items turned into the NEX or Commissary will be turned over to Security each week, so check with each if you know you just recently lost an item there. Contact Capodichino at DSN 626-5488 or the Support Site Precinct at DSN 629-4262 to see if your item has been turned in. A log is maintained for each precinct and individuals turning in items should ensure they receive a receipt from Security. Lost and found items are held until the owner claims the item or a period of six months passes.


Restrictions on Hand Carrying Medical Records U.S. Naval Hospital Naples will implement the restriction on hand carrying patient medical records on Saturday, Nov. 1. The Department of Defense Instruction 6040.43 restricts the practice though some exceptions may apply, specifically for active-duty service members. The Medical Records division can provide one copy their medical records to sponsors and their dependents prior to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), if requested. Copies should be requested 30 days in advance. Please contact Patient Administration for details at DSN 629-6204 or 081-811-6204. USPS Internet Change of Address for Overseas Service Members Overseas service members assigned mailing addresses with individual delivery points (box numbers) can now complete a change-of-address request via the United States Postal Service website, www.usps.com. As with all USPS customers, service members are charged a $1.05 identity verification fee for each change-of-address request. For any questions, please contact the post office. Now- Dec. 15: Winter Youth Cheerleading Registration Registration for Winter Youth Cheerleading Season is now open and runs through Dec. 15 for youth ages five and above. The cost is $50 per child. The season runs January to March and will be held at the Support Site. Register at the Youth Center or the Child Development Centers on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registrants must provide valid proof of age, registration and CYP forms, as well as the PAYS online training certificate (mandatory for one parent in each household). Oct. 31: Trick or Treating on Support Site Trick or Treating will be held for Support Site Housing members from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. For participating residents handing out candy, please set up outside the doors of your building to help ensure the safety of the children, as well as limit the noise in the stairwells for residents who do not wish to participate. Oct. 31: Spooktacular at the Support Site Central Park Spooktacular will be held at the Support Site Central Park from 6 to 10 p.m. for children and adults. Trick or Treating will be open to youth under 16 years old. There will also be a hayride, maze, food sales, music, haunted house, food vendors, contests and a professional photographer for a fee. The base Security policy applies for sponsoring guests for the event and patrons sponsoring guests must obtain a pass at the Housing office parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31. Oct. 31: Free Developmental Screenings at NES The Education & Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) Clinic and the Child Find at the elementary school are teaming up for a community-wide developmental screening on Friday, Oct. 31. The free developmental assessment will be offered at the Naples Elementary School from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to see if children aged five and younger are on track in the five areas of development: communication, social-emotional, cognitive, adaptive, and physical. All children under three are eligible and children three to five of active-duty or Department of Defense employees are also eligible. Walk-ins are welcome, but to ensure a spot for your child and good use of your time, schedule an appointment by calling the EDIS Clinic at DSN 629-4676. Children can attend in costume and trick or treat at each station.


Oct. 31: Registration Deadline for Nov. 8 Parents’ Day Out Parents can take day off on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Child Development Center will be open so parents can enjoy the time with spouses, family or friends. Nov. 1-26: Adopt a Service Member for Thanksgiving Dinner Are you a single or unaccompanied service member and don’t want to be stuck in the barracks this Thanksgiving? Are you a family with a couple extra spots at your dinner table and want help share the feeling of family and friends? Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24: NOR Archery 4-Day Course Learn the techniques of using a bow and arrow. Join the Navy Outdoor Recreation Archery course every Monday in November at the Support Site Youth Center Gym from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program is open to 10 years and above (under 17 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian). Nov. 4: ShipShape Weight Management Program at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples U.S. Naval Hospital Naples will be hosting the ShipShape Weight Management Class starting at Capodichino will on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Branch Health Clinic Dental conference room from 3 to 4 p.m. Classes will continue for eight weeks with meetings at the same time and location. Nov. 5: Wildcat Coffee Chat with School’s PTSA A Wildcat Coffee Chat is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5 in the Naples Middle High School cafeteria from 5 to 6 p.m. The chat is hosted by the school’s Parent Teacher Student Association and will focus on 7th and 8th grade middle school questions and solutions. The principal, assistant principal, military family life counselors, a yearbook representative and the 7th/8th grade student council adviser will be in attendance. Nov. 6, 7: Registration Deadline for High School ACT and SAT Testing The deadline to sign up for the next SAT exam at the high school is Thursday, Nov. 6. The exam will be administrated on Saturday Dec. 6 at the Naples High School. The deadline to sign up for the next ACT test is Friday, Nov. 7. The ACT test will be administrated on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Naples High School. Nov. 7: Home Sweet Hoedown at the Support Site Village Forum AFN Naples, along with USO, MWR, and the NOSC, will bring a piece of the "South" to the Support Site Village Forum Square through music, line dancing, food and activities.


AFN's Home Sweet Hoedown will be held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. Volunteers are needed for country performers, food vendors, volunteers and a line dance caller. Nov. 7 Registration Deadline for ACT Testing The ACT registration deadline with the Navy College Office is extended to Nov. 7. The ACT test will be held in the Navy College Office test classroom located at Capodichino on the ground floor of the Admin II building. Nov. 8: NOR Trekking Day Trip Put on your hiking boots and join Navy Outdoor Recreation for a day on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Campania region, The Path of the Gods. The tour is being offered on Tuesday, Nov. 11 and is only open to active-duty service members and dependents. The tour is offered at no cost to attendees and included transportation, a guided tour through the monastery and a reserved pavilion for lunch. Please bring a sack lunch. The world famous site remains one of the most important historic monuments in Southern Italy related to World War II. Bombarded by the Allies in 1944 and rebuilt in 1964, it holds a fascinating legend that will be unleashed by a professional guide, as you are taken thru the monastery. Nov. 12-14, 17-18: Navy College Program CLEP-A-THON The Navy College Office is sponsoring a CLEP-A-THON at the National Test Center in November. Take as many CLEP & DSST tests as you would like Nov. 12- 14 and Nov. 17- 18. Earn college credits fast. Tests are free for active-duty service members. Nov. 13: Language Testing at the Navy College Office The Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and the Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 13. Seats are limited based on the number of computer workstations. Interested persons must possess an active One Net account in order to test. Visitor accounts will not allow access to the Department of Defense testing software. Please arrange with your command N6 or the installation’s N6 at DSN 314-626-1138. Nov. 13: Dental Clinic Celebrates Retiree Appreciation Day In honor of Veterans Day, the U.S. Naval Hospital Naples Dental Clinic has set aside Thursday, Nov. 13 for military retiree dental exams and cleanings. As there are only a limited number of appointments available, this service is restricted to U.S. military retirees only and does not include their family members. Retirees are ordinarily seen on a


stand-by basis only, so all appointments will be set aside for them. Retirees should call the Support Site Dental Clinic at DSN 629-6007 or 081-811-6007 to make an appointment. Plan on arriving 15 minutes before the appointment time and be advised that treatment needs identified during a routine exam and cleaning may not be available at the facility. Nov. 13: Veterans Appreciation Dinner The U.S. Naval Hospital Naples First Class Petty Officer Association will be sponsoring the Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the hospital’s La Cucina Galley at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13. The dinner is an opportunity to recognize and remember those who have served in the military and will include a Prisoner of War table ceremony. A workshop will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 18 so teenagers can learn how to check a vehicle’s vital fluids, brakes, windshield wipers, tires, radiator, seat belts and more.
