Special Town Hall - Nov. 18 Residents of Support Site buildings 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2032, 2033, 2034, 2035, 2036, 2037 and 2038 are invited to a special Town Hall with Capt. Doug Carpenter, commanding officer of NSA Naples, on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The Town Hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Support Site movie theater to discuss the conversion of these buildings to Unaccompanied Housing. The conversion will allow for increased quality of life opportunities for the single Sailors currently residing in the Capodichino barracks. The timeline of building conversions and the current resident’s relocation options will be discussed at the Town Hall. RSVP by Nov. 13 to Lt. Command Holiday Greeting Card Contest Commands and private organizations can create a Holiday Greeting Card to be displayed along the Support Site entrance from Dec. 3 to Jan. 2. The 8 x 4 foot of plywood can be picked up at the Auto Wood Skills Center beginning Tuesday, Nov. 4. Winners will be announced at the MWR Holiday Tree Lighting event on Friday, Dec. 5. The first place winners receive eight certificates (up to five people each) for free bowling lanes at Strikers. Judging will consider logo, best winter holiday theme and creativity (color and design). Participants should ensure the card can withstand the wind and rain. Air Conditioning Shutoff Schedule The remaining A/C shutoff schedule is below for Support Site housing. This procedure does not require entry to any units, and families will not be disturbed during the process. Please note that due to the design in the equipment, the heat may not available for 24 to 48 hours after the A/C is turned off. If the heat is not working 48 hours after A/C turn-off, please contact the Housing trouble desk at 629-4285/86 or 081-811-4285/86 for assistance. All property turned into DLA Disposition Services requires a completed DD Form 1348-1A and required certificates.


To streamline processing, usable and demilitarize-required property will be shipped to Aviano. However, scrap and hazardous waste processing will be coordinated in advance with DLA Disposition Services personnel as scrap and hazardous waste is not shipped. Property will be shipped at the generator’s expense to Aviano (DoDAAC SGP180). Pay close attention to the turn in of computers or electronics and follow appropriate guidelines by N6. Nov. 7: Home Sweet Hoedown at the Support Site Village Forum AFN Naples, along with USO, MWR, and the NOSC, will bring a piece of the "South" to the Support Site Village Forum Square through music, line dancing, food and activities. AFN's Home Sweet Hoedown will be held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. Volunteers are needed for country performers, food vendors, volunteers and a line dance caller. Nov. 7: Registration Deadline for ACT Testing The ACT registration deadline with the Navy College Office is extended to Nov. 7. The ACT test will be held in the Navy College Office test classroom located at Capodichino on the ground floor of the Admin II building. Nov. 9: Free Comedy/Juggling Show at Strikers Bowling Center Celebrate Month of the Military Family with a special show at the Strikers Bowling Center by Nick Pike at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. The show is free and open to all ages. Nick's one-man show is a combination of juggling, acrobatics, fast-paced comedy, hilarious audience participation and stunts so dangerous- no one else in the world performs them. Take as many CLEP & DSST tests as you would like Nov. 12- 14 and Nov.


17- 18. Earn college credits fast. Tests are free for active-duty service members. Tests will be given at Capodichino in room G049.1 of the Admin II building. Nov. 13: Language Testing at the Navy College Office The Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and the Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 13. Seats are limited based on the number of computer workstations. Interested persons must possess an active One Net account in order to test. Visitor accounts will not allow access to the Department of Defense testing software. Please arrange with your command N6 or the installation’s N6 at DSN 314-626-1138. Registrations cannot be accepted via email. Nov. 13: Dental Clinic Celebrates Retiree Appreciation Day In honor of Veterans Day, the U.S. Naval Hospital Naples Dental Clinic has set aside Thursday, Nov. 13 for military retiree dental exams and cleanings. As there are only a limited number of appointments available, this service is restricted to U.S. military retirees only and does not include their family members. Retirees are ordinarily seen on a stand-by basis only, so all appointments will be set aside for them. Retirees should call the Support Site Dental Clinic at DSN 629-6007 or 081-811-6007 to make an appointment. Plan on arriving 15 minutes before the appointment time and be advised that treatment needs identified during a routine exam and cleaning may not be available at the facility. Nov. 13: Veterans Appreciation Dinner The U.S. Naval Hospital Naples First Class Petty Officer Association will be sponsoring the Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the hospital’s La Cucina Galley at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13. The dinner is an opportunity to recognize and remember those who have served in the military and will include a Prisoner of War table ceremony. Nov. 14: Inflatable Fun at Youth Center A family celebration with inflatable fun is scheduled at the Youth Center on Friday, Nov. 14. There will be a bounce house, obstacle course and DJ available. It will be open from noon to 2 p.m. for an all-ages community time with no registration required. All children must be accompanied by an adult and should enter through the School Aged Care side. It will be open for middle school students only from 6 to 8 p.m. and high school students only from 8 to 10 p.m. Teens must be a member of the center and should enter through the Teen Center. Nov. 14: Turkey Shoot at the Carney Park Golf Course Join the 4-person scramble golf tournament at Carney Park where 24 turkeys will be awarded! Nov. 14: NOR Ski Shop Opens The Ski Shop will open its doors for the season on Friday, Nov. 14. It will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for ski and snowboard repair, snow equipment rentals including ski/snowboard packages (for adults and children), helmets,

Nov. 15: Navy Chaplain Corps Birthday Ball Celebrate the 239th birthday of the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps at this year’s ball in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 6 to 11 p.m. Lodging is possible at the venue and ticket prices are on a sliding rank scale. Nov. 19- 20: ASIST “Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training” The Navy Region Europe, Africa Southwest Asia CREDO team will hold an ASIST Workshop for everyone who wants to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide in our community. The free home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and is for all single Sailors and geo bachelors – bring your appetite and a friend. There will also be free giveaways. Nov. 22: Family Turkey Trot All ages are welcome to join the Family Turkey Trot on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Support Site Fitness Forum. Pick up a registration form at either gym and turn it in on the day of the event. Registration begins at 7 a.m. in Central Park with a child/family 1-mile run beginning at 8 a.m. The adult 10K run start afterwards. Cost is $5 per person for the run and $5 per T-shirt. Month of the Military Family Specials: Carney Park Golf Course A child gets a free bucket of range balls when parent purchases the same size bucket of range balls. A workshop will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18 so teenagers can learn how to check a vehicle’s vital fluids, brakes, windshield wipers, tires, radiator, seat belts and more.
