Today: Exercise Reliant Pulcinella 2015 (Please Review Attached Info Sheet) NSA Naples is conducting a security-centric exercise until the evening of Feb. 5 that will involve the Capodichino, Support Site and Gaeta military installations. Announcements will be made in advance of key exercise events. As always, please follow the directions of Security and avoid interfering whenever possible. Emergency Management Communication Sign Up For all ONE-Net computer users, expand the Notification Area Icon section on the bottom right side of your screen and click on the purple globe to update you and your families contact information. You can also enter phone numbers and personal emails for alert notifications through the Computer Desktop Notification System (CDNS)/ Wide Area Alert Notification (WAAN). Community members without a sponsor assigned to a command with an Emergency Management representative can use the link below to fill out an information sheet and be added to the system. Please use sponsor or employee name and include projected rotation date (to be taken out of the system). Include family phone numbers and emails you want notified if emergencies or alert notifications are deemed necessary. http://issuu.com/nsanaplespao/docs/cdns_message_information_sheet New Naples MWR Website Launched MWR information for Naples and Gaeta is now available on their new website www.naplesmwr.org. The website hosts local MWR facility information and schedules, including a link to the Information, Tickets and Travel (ITT) website www.mwritt.org. The ITT website offers information on local events in the Campania region, allows you to book hotels, obtain "Do it Yourself" travel information and best of all- register and pay for daily trips and tours through their safe on-line payment system. Heavy Rains and Road Conditions Due to recent heavy rains, some roads developed potholes or have had fallen rocks on them. Most rocks have been removed by city officials, but it may take some time for newly formed potholes to get repaired. Please continue to drive cautiously in foul weather conditions and be aware of these common road hazards. VITA Self-Help Tax Centers at Capodichino, Support Site and Gaeta The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is up and running at Capodichino, the Support Site and Gaeta. Get your taxes done for free at any of three IRS-certified VITA centers in Naples. Call the Region Legal Services Office front desk at 081-568-4576 to schedule an appointment for either location. The tax centers will run through June 15, but


taxpayers are encouraged to file their taxes by April 15. The VITA tax centers are open to all service members, dependents and retirees. Priority will be given to E-6 and junior personnel. African American Heritage Month at the Libraries The Support Site Library and Capo Connections are celebrating African American Heritage Month by hosting special books, displays and bibliographies. By answering two questions correctly from the special in-house quiz, you may win a prize. Visit the Support Site Library on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and let your kids make their own African American craft to take home. New Volunteer Opportunity at Naples Elementary School Naples Elementary School is seeking active-duty service members, civilians and retirees who enjoy working with young children to volunteer for the school’s new mentoring program, Dolphin Buddies. Volunteers must be willing to commit at least 30 minutes to an hour per week, or every other week, to interact with small groups of children during lunch or recess. Dolphin Buddies will allow children to be mentored while playing games, participating in crafts or other organized activities. There is a one-hour mandatory training required to participate. Community members are now able to tune into AFN the Eagle on 107.0 FM. That frequency was used for AFN Power Network, which has moved to 106.0 FM. As always, you can listen in with your AFN Europe smartphone App or online with AFN 360 at http://afn360.afneurope.net/afne_nap. Users can also visit www.afneurope.net, click on the AFN 360 tab, and choose any of the global and spoken word radio services. Navy College Office Offering Free Web Tuition Assistance/ Language Testing The Navy College office is now giving Web Tuition Assistance briefings every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. to discuss the procedures on how to utilize the system and the policies for using tuition assistance. All attendees will have chance to ask questions. No reservation is necessary just come to the Navy College Office on the ground floor of Admin II, in room 36.1. The Navy College office will be offering Defense Language Proficiency Testing every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. The main office will be closed to accommodate personnel needing to take the test. Contact Larry Daley at DSN 626-6683 or 081-568-6683 for availability. Easter Eggstravaganza Food Vendors and Volunteers Needed Easter Eggstravaganza will be celebrated at Carney Park March 28. If you are a command-sponsored organization, you can sign up to be a food vendor beginning Feb. 17. The registration fee is $50 and you’ll be asked to complete a request form/contract at the Youth Center, which gives you authorization as a vendor. Volunteers are needed to help guard the fields, monitor the Bounce House, assist with set-up, operate the kiddie train, and candy distribution. Transportation is available for volunteers, if needed. Register for Session 2 Group and Private Swim Lessons Register in person at the Capo Fit Zone pool for Session 2 Group Swim Lessons, which will take place Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Lesson dates and times depend on age and skill levels. Cost is $30 per person for one session of four, forty-minute lessons. Private lessons are also available on Saturday mornings. Now- Feb. 6: Naval IG Area Visit Internet-Based Survey The Naval Inspector General conducts Readiness and Quality-of-Life Area Visits to Navy regions and activities worldwide. As part of the upcoming Naples IG Area Visit, all active-duty and Reserve Sailors and civilian employees are requested to participate in an internet-based survey to capture concerns and identify areas to improve readiness. The survey is scheduled to be active until Feb. 6. Participation is voluntary and responses are anonymous and kept strictly confidential. Feedback provided will help identify focus areas regarding quality of home and work life, and region support services. The survey can be completed by visiting www.secnav.navy.mil/ig/Pages/NaplesAreaVisit.aspx. Now- March 1: Naples Overseas Support Club Scholarship Applications Accepted Applications for the NOSC’s annual scholarship program will be available and conducted online from Jan. 26 until March 1. Two scholarship applications will be offered, but applicants may only apply for one. Scholarship #1 is the traditional NOSC scholarship that requires applicants to have a minimum 3.0 GPA, active-duty service members may apply. The new scholarship allows the NOSC to spread the wealth to more community members interested in furthering their education. Scholarship #2 is not open to activeduty service members and doesn’t require a GPA to be provided, but does require a letter of reference with the application. Now- March 31: Flooring Project at USNH Naples The U.S. Naval Hospital Naples on Support Site is undergoing a replacement project for corridor baseboards and waiting area flooring until March 31. Each day, various corridors and/or waiting rooms will be shut down, which will change traffic patterns and possibly increasing wait times at certain clinics. Please be mindful of this and follow posted signs throughout the hospital during this ongoing project. Feb. 7: Naples Got Talent USO Naples is hosting the Annual Naples Got Talent on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Naples High School cafeteria. The show will feature 10 local talents, competing for the grand prize of two roundtrip airline tickets to the U.S. It will be an evening to highlight the talent of the Naples military community and provide entertainment for the whole family. Doug Carpenter will host a Town Hall meeting for all personnel and families assigned to the Naples area on Tuesday, Feb. 10. It will be held at the Reel Times 2 Theater on Support Site at 6 p.m. There will be a question-andanswer session after a few words from the CO. For anyone unable to attend, questions for

Feb. 10, 24: Couples Communication Class at FFSC A Couples Communication class is being held at the Fleet and Family Support Center for participants to learn healthy communication skills, understand ways to build connections and handle conflict. Some topics discussed will include couple dynamics, the 5 Love Languages and non-violent communication. The class is open to all couples, regardless of marital status. The class will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Support Site FFSC. Feb. 11: Connect the Tots February Craft Party Connect the Tots will be holding a Craft Party on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. Come create a fun craft project celebrating the month of February. Feb. 12: Valentine’s Day Lunch for Troops Join the USO for a Valentine’s Day Lunch for Troops on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Capo Lounge on the first floor of the Air Terminal from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be plenty of food and a photo booth to take pictures for your sweetheart. The Support Site Child Development Center will be open so parents can enjoy the time with spouses, family or friends. Cost is $4 per hour. Children accepted are from ages 6 weeks to 6th grade. Feb. 7 (Family Trip), 16, 21, 28 (Family Trip): NOR One Day Ski/ Snowboard Trip Enjoy a day on the snow in the nearby resorts of Campitello, Roccaraso or Pescasseroli (location of trip depends on ski conditions). The bus transportation fee is $15 per adult with a minimum of 30 people required. Bus transportation is $10 per child (12 years of age and under) and free for kids 3 years old and below (based on space availability). On Family Trips, one child rides for free with each paying adult. Youth 17 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian. Feb. 19: National Prayer Breakfast A National Prayer Breakfast will be held in the Bella Napoli conference room on Capodichino on Thursday, Feb. 19. The event will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and is open to everyone, but limited seats are available. Stop by either the Support Site or Capodichino Chapel to receive a free ticket for the breakfast. Feb. 19: NMCRS Baby Basics Class A monthly class on newborn care and other useful tips for expecting parents is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Feb. 19. The class is offered by Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Visiting Nurses and is open to U.S. military, civilians and NATO ID cardholders. Feb. 20: MMA Fighters at the Support Site Fitness Forum Gym See Mixed Martial Artist fighters in action with their exercises and stretch routines. Feb. 21: Naples Middle School Valentine Dance The Naples Middle School is having a Valentine Dance on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. The dance will be held in the school’s cafeteria. The school is requesting volunteers to chaperone the dance, assist the photographer, judge the dance contest, hand out snacks and drinks, and assist in the clean-up. New Tee Box Locations New Tee Box Locations are now available at the Carney Park Golf Course.
