Upcoming Changes with Capodichino Personal Mail Boxes Upon the September completion of the new unmanned postal box facility near the gym on Capodichino, postal patrons will have a different delivery method for their mail. All authorized U.S. personnel whose commands do not already have postal boxes installed in their command spaces and members assigned a mail box in the East Parking Garage will be issued their own physical mail box in the new mail facility. All letter mail will be available for pick-up 24 hours a day in their mail box. A package pick-up slip will be left in the mail box for accountable mail and all packages. These items will need to be picked up at the Fleet Mail Center located near the front base entrance. Movement of members into the new space will be done one command at a time and notification of your command’s date will be conducted through command mail orderlies. Upon completion of a command’s transition to the new mail boxes, the mail orderly position will be disbanded. All financial transactions (i.e. purchasing money orders, stamps, postage) as well as shipping of boxes will continue to be conducted at the Fleet Mail Center. Upcoming Events and Opportunities at the NOSC Thrift Store The Naples Overseas Support Club (NOSC) is looking for volunteers to help the reorganization efforts taking place at the Support Site’s Thrift Store. The Thrift Store is looking for people to help re-organize the books, electronics’ room and to do general cleaning. NOSC recently gave more than $40,000 in scholarships to Naples High School seniors. This and the assistance provided to other base groups and school sports are due to the profits generated at the NOSC Thrift Store. USO’s Dog Days of Summer Giveaway 2015 USO Naples will be giving away a free tour to Sorrento and Amalfi by land and sea on Saturday, Aug. 22. The tour package is good for a party of four members. Pre-register for the Annual Mud Run at Carney Park Save the date! Don't miss out on the Annual Mud Run, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. in Carney Park. Now- Aug. 19: Register for September SAT Prep Workshop Register at the Support Site Youth Center for high school students interested in taking the upcoming SAT Prep Workshop. The workshop will be held Sept. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at the Naples High School Library from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $75 per student and includes 18 hours of classroom instruction and Official College Board SAT Study Guide. Now- Aug. 30: NSA Naples Gate Closures Due to upgrades of the gates at both Support Site and Capodichino, the gates will be closed in August according to the following schedule: • Support Site Front Gate closed Aug. 10- 16. The Pass & ID office will be open for paperwork and pedestrian traffic during this time. • Capodichino Front Gate closed Aug. 17- 23 from 3 p.m. to midnight daily. During the front gate closure, the west bus stop will not be in service. • Capodichino Back Gate closed Aug. 24- 30 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following day. It will be open for the morning’s incoming traffic. The main Capo bus stop will be moved from in front of NGIS to the northeast corner of the CDC for this week of upgrades. Now-Aug. 30: Free Bus from Capodichino to Support Site to Carney Park Use the MWR free bus that runs from Capodichino to Support Site to Carney Park and return for U.S. ID card holders every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Riders must be 16 years old and above to ride alone. The
bus is not staffed with an MWR employee. Departure times are Capo at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., Support Site at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m., and Carney Park a 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17- 20: ASC Napoli Competitive Youth Soccer Tryouts American Soccer Club (ASC) Napoli is a competitive youth soccer team that plays from September - May in Italian leagues. Tryouts will be held Aug. 17- 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the north fields of the Support Site. Players are expected to attend all sessions. Tryouts are open to U.S. and NATO affiliated boys and girls born in 2008 or earlier. There is no cost to tryout. Early registration can be done Aug. 13- 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the gazebo by the north fields. Registration on Monday, Aug. 17 begins at 5 p.m. Current ASC members must register and try out. A mandatory parent meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the gazebo to provide information about ASC and to answer any questions. Aug. 19: Ship Shape at Capodichino Health Promotion and Wellness at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples is offering the innovative fitness program Ship Shape. Sept. 15: Motorcycle Safety Ride to Anzio NSA Naples is hosting a group motorcycle ride on Tuesday, Sept. 15 starting from the Support Site motorcycle range and ending at Museo dello Sbarco di Anzio (Beach Landing Museum of Anzio). It will be an all-day ride with a 2 ½ to 3 hour ride each way. The event will start with a TCLOCS (Tires/ Controls/ Lights/ Oil/ Chassis/ Side Stand) inspection. The group ride to Anzio and back will be with groups no larger than seven. Each group will have a ride captain.
