USO Naples Hosts 10th Annual Naples Got Talent From USO Naples
Three hundred Naples community members gathered this past Saturday at the Naples Middle High School Cafeteria to enjoy the USO’s biggest show of the year the 10th annual Naples Got Talent show. Eleven talented contestants performed as well as a highenergy performance by the Commander, Naval Forces Europe (CNE) Band, “Flagship,” which kicked off the event. The band performed a special Happy Birthday to the USO, which celebrated its 76th birthday last week. Members of the community sang along to the band, and enjoyed special birthday cupcakes to commemorate the organization’s milestone.
The show highlighted the talent of local community members that performed musical acts, dance routines and comedy shows. The three esteemed judges – Rear Adm. Rick Williamson, Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia; Lt. Joel Borrelli-Boudreau, assistant director, CNE Band; and Staff Sgt. Joseph Dirksz, 2nd NATO Signal Battalion – had the difficult duty of narrowing down the number of contestants from 11 to five. In the end, the audience loved the biographical rap stylings of Master-at-Arms Seaman Dedric Palmer of Naval Support Activity Naples Security, who performed under his stage name of “YK.” NAPLES GOT TALENT

Trump Honors Fallen Navy Chief, Details Emerge From Yemen Raid By Lisa Ferdinando DoD News
President Donald J. Trump paid tribute to Navy Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, who was killed in a January 29 raid in Yemen that U.S. officials say yielded valuable intelligence. Trump, who traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware yesterday to receive the remains of Owens in a dignified transfer ceremony, hailed the special warfare operator as a hero. “He died in defense of our nation. He gave his life in defense of our people. Our debt to him and our debt to his family is eternal and everlasting,” Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast here today. The ceremony to receive the fallen hero was poignant – “very, very sad, but very, very beautiful,” Trump said. Owens, 36, of Peoria, Illinois, was assigned to a special warfare unit based on the U.S. East Coast, Pentagon officials said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” Navy Capt. Jeff Davis told reporters at the Pentagon today. “Chief Owens gave his life in the line of duty while carrying out this important mission.” ‘Valuable and Actionable Intelligence’ The raid yielded “valuable and actionable intelligence” against a determined enemy that has “callous disrespect for FALLEN SEAL
