THE MOTIVATION OF A CHAMPION
Like the Champions Award Honorees that we celebrate today, our students are pursuing something greater than themselves. With every course completed and every challenge overcome along the way, they move closer to earning a college degree that opens the door to a world of opportunities for themselves and their loved ones. Our students’ dreams are realized when their own hard-earned academic and professional journeys in turn transform the lives of those around them. This outcome is the underpinning of our bold vision that an NSCC education consistently leads to excellent and equitable life outcomes for our students and the greater community.
I am honored to join with our exemplary Champions Award honorees, our exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, key stakeholders, and committed philanthropic partners to ensure excellence and equity for our amazing students, our incredible alumni, and our community as a whole. It is our shared commitment to pursue something greater than ourselves that will turn this bold vision into reality for our region and elevate us all.

NSCC CHAMPIONS AWARD HONOREE
In recognition of PHILANTHROPY & VOLUNTEERISM
David Masse NSCC Class of 1984
When David graduated from Beverly High School , college seemed completely out of reach. He found his passion for business at NSCC while working to support himself through school, the beginning of a hard-earned successful career in commercial banking and real estate. In 2022, David turned his journey into an opportunity for determined students like him by sponsoring the first-ever scholarship to cover the entire cost of an associate degree at NSCC.
“I believe in giving back, because when I was financially challenged, I wish I had the opportunity to get help like I can provide someone today.”
After NSCC, David graduated from Salem State University and completed the Bank of New England Executive Commercial Lending Training Program. He has been involved with over $3.5 billion of real estate transactions in his nearly four-decade career. Today, David is Founder and CEO of AAM15 Management, which focuses on investments in hospitality, apartments, and student housing. A resident of Ipswich and parent of two college students, David serves on the Beth Israel-Lahey Clinic President’s Council and the Cabot Theater Board of Directors.

Dr. Kiame Mahaniah
Undersecretary for Health
MA Executive Office of Health and Human Services
Dr. Mahaniah’s passion for social justice and his steadfast commitment to the quality, equity, and outcomes of patient care are shaping the values of today’s Health Professions students, who comprise more than one-third of NSCC’s student body and fill critical health care positions across our region upon graduating. NSCC RISING CHAMPIONS
AWARD HONOREE
In recognition of TRANSFORMATION AND EMPOWERMENT
Maria Rosario NSCC Class of 2019
MARIA’S SUCCESS IN NSCC’S EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM as a Lynn English High School senior and first-generation college student opened her eyes to the excellence and affordability of community college. Maria matriculated to NSCC in 2017, earning donor-funded scholarships through the NSCC Foundation and graduating with an associate degree in Health Science in 2019. Her plan was to pursue nursing, but higher education once again opened her eyes to opportunities beyond patient-facing positions. She quickly found her passion in health care administration where she can positively impact people working in health care. Maria has since earned her bachelor and master’s degrees in Health Care Administration from Salem State University and Suffolk University while working full-time at Lynn Community Health Center, where she continues to advance in her career. Most meaningful to Maria is the opportunity to contribute her professional skills to the local community where she and her family reside.
“I grew up here, and I love the people here. In order to have a community feel united, you have to help out in any way possible.”
