Testimonial

disability, this program provides assistance in areas such as completing applications for disability benefits and advocating for people whose applications have been denied, helping with reconsiderations. Here is a story of a recent beneficiary of our services: “I am writing to express my appreciation for the North Shore Disability Resource Centre ’ s Information and Advocacy program. This past spring, I received notice that my application for CPP disability benefits was denied. I was very disillusioned with the process and worried about my future because I have a serious medical condition that makes it impossible for me to work. The government gave me a limited time to appeal the decision so I contacted the NSDRC and spoke to an advocate who, for no charge, confidently pursued the reconsideration appeal on my behalf. In the end, my appeal was successful and I was granted disability benefits which was a huge relief for me. There is no way I could have done it all by myself. The NSDRC’ s Information and Advocacy program is a vital service for people like me in the community who have limited means and are facing disabling illnesses while having to deal with a difficult and specialized appeal processes for disability benefits. ”
