SUPPORT TO CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS : WHAT? EIDHR : 5 OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVE 1 : Enhancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in countries and regions where they are most at risk. OBJECTIVE 2: Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of groups of interests and consolidating political participation and representation. Local country programmes (CBSS - 50% of EIDHR annual budget without EOMS) Transnational and transregional activities • OBJECTIVE 5: Support the electoral processes.

Proactive role to set up “CBSS Guidelines Priorities”

• Get in contact with EU Delegations! • Explain what are the HR priorities in your country!! • Good practice: Moldavia Guidelines, priorities include : • Anti - torture: a) prevention of all forms of torture and illtreatment; b) strengthening monitoring of the prevalence of torture, in particular through provision of data that can be used in prevention activities; c) other relevant activities which would enable proper application of national and international human rights- and anti-torture legislation and standards, and set up of good practices. TRANSLATION OF THE PRIORITIES IN THE STATE LANGUAGE
Global Calls • Mainstreaming of women’s rigths, children, underrepresented groups, respect and freedom of expression of sexual orientation and gender identity in all global calls: “Anti-torture”, Human Rights Defenders (planned to be published JULY 2010),l “Strengthening of Transnational Network” • Special ongoing/permanent Call with a focus on countries where human rights are most at risk (Objective 1 Call) (current deadline for selection 15.06.2010)
