Cows about town The CowParade San Luis Obispo will turn loose 101 lifesized cow statues, each uniquely painted by sponsored

artists, throughout SLO County. The colorful cows will first appear together in the meadow of the Madonna Inn from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 17, and will then be dispersed to locations across the county where they will remain for seven months. The Central Coast Art & Music Festival will bring two days of free music plus artwork available for purchase from more than 50 artists, to the Los Osos Community Park, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lulu & the Cowtippers (pictured) will close the festival on Saturday, and Dulcie Taylor will close on Sunday. Painted parks The nine national parks found here in the Golden State are the inspiration behind Paso artist Leslie Love Stone’s exhibit at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art titled Intersecting California’s National Parks, on view Nov. 18 through Jan. 29. Stone’s paintings mimic the colors found in the parks and the geometric shapes that comprise them are based on data collected about precipitation, vegetation, and soil.
