“Hats for Hope is a local non-profit organization which provides financing for wigs/hats and a gifting program to support cancer patients on the Central Coast as they undergo chemotherapy and or radiation treatment.” Hats for Hope was founded in 2001 by Connie Garcin, a Santa Maria resident who herself battled cancer. Connie and a group of her close friends founded Hats for Hope with the wish to ease the burden and challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. Connie’s legacy is going strong; Hats for Hope has given more than 6,000 wigs and added a ‘Gifting Program’ which enables Hats for Hope to give cash gifts.

It is such a joy for Hats for Hope to hand out checks to deserving members of the community.

Hats for Hope Wig Program:
This is why we do what we do… FROM A WIG SHOP OWNER:
Hats for Hope raises money to provide a wig or a hat to Central Coast residents that are going through treatment and will lose their hair. Every patient from Santa Ynez to Paso Robles receives a wig gift certificate from Hats for Hope. The wig certificates are not applied for, or asked for, they are a gift from Hats for Hope.
“…my experiences in my shop brought about by the generosity and kindness of the Hats for Hope organization allows me to see the positive impact you have made in so many lives. Sometimes it is not just the patient who receives the gift, it’s the many people in those patients’ lives that are touched as well. A daughter driven to tears because her mother looks beautiful; a son who can look at his mom and forget that she is ill; a lover, whose sense of passion is renewed by getting a glimpse of the untainted past; and me who in gratitude gets to walk this journey with so many.”
How it works: Hats for Hope gift certificates are given to designated oncologists on California’s Central Coast who distribute them to their patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

These certificates are redeemed at A Touch of Elegance in Santa Maria, Tres Joli in Grover Beach, or Talk of the Town in Orcutt. At these locations, patients are personally fitted for a wig, hat or other head covering while keeping individual tastes and lifestyle needs in mind. 100% of funds raised by this non-profit organization go directly to the Hats for Hope program. The program is administered by a board of twelve volunteers.
Hats for Hope Gifting Program: In 2015, because of the generosity of the businesses and residents of the Central Coast, Hats for Hope was able to expand their mission to include giving cash gifts to those currently going through treatment and struggling financially due to a diagnosis. Qualifications to be nominated for a cash gift from Hats for Hope are; nominees must reside within Northern Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County between Paso Robles and Santa Ynez Valley, must currently be undergoing cancer treatment, must submit an oncologist’s verification of treatment, and nominees may not have received a gift from Hats for Hope previously. Friends, family, caregivers or patients themselves can nominate anyone for one of eight gifts given annually. Nomination forms are available when nominations open on the Hats for Hope website or by contacting a Hats for Hope board member. Long-time Hats for Hope sponsors.
Gifts are given bi-annually with the following deadlines:

How we raise funds… Hats for Hope raises money to help Central Coast cancer patients with its Annual Benefit and Auction, hosting live music events, and private donations. If you would like to sponsor our Annual Benefit or would like information about upcoming events please contact us!
