Every year, nationwide, people celebrate America and its dedication to independence and freedom with barbecues, parties, and—most audibly—fireworks! Though Santa Maria has strict laws regarding certain kinds of fireworks, the Santa Maria Fairpark scratches the big explosion itch every year with a spectacular display that illuminates the night sky The Fairpark will also include many Fourth of July activities during the day in preparation for the dazzling show that begins once night falls

s the days lengthen and the temperature rises, locals seek shady spots and cool watering holes to enjoy weather that makes the Central Coast so famous (and expensive!). At most of the best spots around Northern Santa Barbara County and beyond, you’re likely to find more than wine tasting and trip-tip; you’ll also find live music by the area’s diverse array of professional musicians. From Santa Maria’s family-friendly Concerts in the Park series to the many nighttime venues, there is a chance to catch a band of every flavor. Big names from out of town can be found at the Chumash Casino Resort and even the Jazz in the Garden series in Solvang, which features some prominent names in jazz. Wherever you may be, and whatever your musical persuasion, make sure to lend an ear to various beats, rhymes, and jams happening throughout the community.

Circle Bar B Dinner Theatre Presents...
Murder by the Book
Written by Duncan Greenwood and Robert King: Directed by Matthew Lavigne
May 30th – July 13th
Crisp, witty exchanges pepper this light hearted and inventive thriller that unfolds with a series of macabre twists. A thriller writer indulges in vitriolic word duels with his estranged wife until she shoots him. An amateur detective from the next flat attempts to solve the murder before calling the police. More deadly games are in store when the corpse rises and the tables are turned more than once for the victim and the killers.
Enchanted April Written by Mathew Barber and Directed by Miller James
July 25th – September 7th
When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again – rediscovering themselves in ways that they – and we – could never have expected.
