Editor’s Note MAKING A FEW ADJUSTMENTS

C

hange is good, but to some individuals change is not that important. In order to live a peaceful life and move to the next level in life you need to make a few changes in your life. It could be in relationships, friendships, work related,

habits or whatever you find to be destructive or hinders you to move forward. This change doesn’t just come automatically, it needs you to set up your mind and then things will be able to change. Setting your mind set from negative thinking to positive. Reshuffling your friend list or the company you keep. Your commitment to this change will help you to not lead yourself into destruction. We have seen change in our South African Education and I believe that there is change that is yet to come. This change came when the youth of 1976 decided that it is more than enough for them, to be taught in Afrikaans that they do not know. Ever since then we have been able to learn and communicate our own languages in class rooms because the youth from previous years fought for change. How I wish today’s youth ca n learn a thing or two from the 1976 youth, just to try and practice things the way they did things. They knew what they wanted and they focused on building their lives and careers. That is not the case with today’s youth they don’t want to be independent they want to be spoon feed, which is totally wrong. No wonder there are

young they stand in corners waiting for their next victim to come. They focus more on hurting people and robbing them of things they worked hard for. Is that what the youth of today stand for? Violence? If that is the case then there is no future for them at all and they are making a bad name for the name “Youth”, for there is a saying that goes “ isizwe sifa ngomntu omnye ”, which means a country dies because of one person. Today’s youth needs to change and they need to start to change now. Focusing on this month’s issue: changing your attitude is one of the best thing that you could ever do for yourself, more than replacing your friends and routines. Not that your attitude is bad,

but maybe you are too hard on yourself or do not give yourself any credit. That needs to change. It is very easy for us to become negative towards ourselves, to look down on ourselves but it is time for some kind of adjustments to take place. Life is too short, let’s rather live it to the fullest. I am not all for the saying that says “you only live once”, but letting it all out won’t hurt. Stop blaming yourself for your mistakes, forgive yourself for things that are not going the right way in your life. Don’t worry yourself about fitting in or not or what things you do better or which you don’t. Breathe some, and be in control but don’t hold on too tightly.

My modelling career started to show colour in 2009, when I did my 1st paying modelling Job with 2Sab Modelling Agency under the management of a lady Called Aldecia Moaudzi. Vintage clothing is a generic term for garments originating from a previous era. During the olden days people were governed by Monarchy Rule (Queens and Kings) and people were divided into classes of people Rich, middle and poor same goes to their fashion senses there were clothes that poor people could not wear. But fabric (material) that was used was in very good quality regardless how poor or rich you are. "Vintage clothing" is a finely constructed clothing from the past; clothing which meets high and generally agreed standards of aesthetic quality. These standards are set both by the marketplace in and by experts with long experience in the field. "From the past" denotes fine clothing which has survived in good condition and which has been preserved specifically because of its intrinsic beauty and not only for its wear ability. "The past" may be the distant past or the more recent past, egg., antique clothing such as an early 20th century embroidered tulle cape. Now coming back to today, things have changed but not that much. Yes we do have expensive clothes and all but guess what, Vintage is not very costly. We have vintage designer labels that are affordable fashion has never been this great. Just make sure you go to the right stores to get nice pieces of Vintage.

I used to think that there is one thing that doesn't shrink when people get older is feet. They enlarge instead. But I was wrong, I have come to notice that my feet have actually shrinked. I am not the only one, I have a number of people who a faced with the same thing. Decreasing from a size 4 to size 3, without turning back.

When combined with other aging-related changes, the feet can encounter limits to how much use or abuse they can take. In all that, there is one thing I know that grows and that is the love of shoes. Just seeing a beautiful pair, makes most hearts pump fast and mind go bananas. On that moment it doesn't matter how much it cost up until you reach home. It is then that you realize that it cost a fortune. You have no choice but to hold on to it so you say you can't take it back. That has nothing to do with the shoe store but because you have fallen deeply in love with this beautiful piece of art you can't let go. .That is how a shoe addicted person acts. There is nothing wrong in loving and buying shoes, but it’s how we react when we see that beautiful pair that makes music in our heart. Love shoes, love beautiful things but shop wisely www.Introvert. com

PLANNING YOUR WINTER WARDROBE

With all the changing of the seasons comes a perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe. Here are some few tips to update your closet this season. Written by: Nomangwane Flatela

1. CLEAN OUT YOUR WARDROBE: There is no better way to clear out the clutter and to evaluate everything you own, than going through your wardrobe methodically, piece by piece. Everything that hasn't been worn in the last 12 months or no longer fits , should be sold, or better yet donate to charity. 2. TAKE NOTE OF WHAT YOU HAVE: create a list of all the category gaps you have recognised whilst going through your wardrobe, items you don't have enough of or need to update. Identify key investment pieces you need and budget for them, like shoes, knits, coats and bags or any basics that need replacing. Think of special events you have coming up and if you need to buy anything specific for these. Also think back to what you wore in previous years and if these looks can be carried on to this season and still look chic. 3. ASSESS YOUR LIFESTYLE: the perfect wardrobe should not only reflect your personal style, but also your personal lifestyle. What you wear should complement how you live. Group your clothing into categories to work out roughly how many outfits you need for the season. People tend to be less social in the colder months so take this into consideration, as you may need fewer dresser outfits and more casual easy-to-wear clothes.

4. STICK TO A COLOUR STORY: the majority of what you wear should be in a neutral colour palette of greys, blacks, nudes and whites that will allow you for mixing and matching, which will keep your wardrobe feeling fresh. Add excitement to neutrals this season with structure and texture. Autumn and winter generally don't offer much in terms of colour, but if colour is your thing, then think about tones of navy, dusty pink, olives and maroon, which are lovely additions to neutrals. www.Introvert. com 11 3rd ISSUE JUNE 2016

PLANNING YOUR WINTER WARDROBE 5. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY: You should aim to have a small wardrobe of high quality key pieces and low cost essentials that can coexist together beautifully to give you your own personal style. Look for quality pieces over large number of trendy items. And remember fit is everything. There are some core goto pieces that a women's winter wardrobe shouldn't be without, like a good sweater, pair of jeans, blazer, coat, blouse and long sleeve dresses, but stick to styles that work best for your figure and keep them refreshed in unexpected ways.

6. SEASONAL UPDATES: Although on - trend buying should be kept to a minimum, it is still okay to buy few trendy pieces to carry your core wardrobe through each season and to give your wardrobe a refreshing lift. 7. CREATE SOME GO-TO LOOKS. Once your shopping is complete, familiarise yourself with your new wardrobe and spend time putting together as many different outfits as you can for every occasion. Pay attention to detail, like accessories and styling, and experiment using your inspiration mood boards. Snap pictures of your outfits to look on. Later on, and to make getting up on those colder mornings as little bit easier. After all that, you are ready for the season winter. Keep warm and styled up.

When I was young I used to listen to the radio, not because I had tuned in to listen but because my grand mother was listening to her favourite radio station. I would hear a voice coming out of the small radio/ hi-fi and wonder how on earth can a person speak and they are not visible for you to see. In all that, there was just one fascinating things to me about radio, and that is the music that plays every time the presenter is about to go to an ad break or when they have a song list from listeners. And I wondered how do they manage to speak and change cassets and play different music by different artists. We now have been answered. I later found out that behind the closed doors of radio, there is a compiler of musing that helps the presenter play a beautiful selection of music. We get to know Sikelwa a music compiler to hear more about her and her work.

Will you please shed some light to us about Sikelwa Ophila. Who is she and where is she from? Sikelwa Ophila is a God fearing woman who was born and bred in Alice, from a very small family and is better known as “Ops”

What was it like growing up in Alice? Growing up in a small town like Alice, to me it was the best thing ever. School and town were close by from my village, so I was exposed to almost everything that is beneficial for a child. Alice is such a small town; people knew each other and Ubuntu was practised daily.

When Growing up was there any sign that you will one day be a music compiler?

Not just a music compiler but being a part of radio. Not a single day would pass without me not listening to radio, just for the love of music and the style of presenting. Is there anything else besides compiling music that you do? I am a script writer, voice over artist and also working with a very passionate young talented guy goes by the name of Vhonga Kekana Myeni, producing his show “Weekend breakfast show.” www.Introvert. com

MUSICIAN Nozwi Maxhegwana is a young woman from Ngqamakhwe in the Eastern Cape. She currently resides in East London where she works. She is a singer, writer and has released a Gospel music album CD and a book called "Be wise you wise man". We had a chance to speak with this young talented and ambitious lady about her career and passion for writing.

Will you please shed some light to us about Nozwi Maxegwana. Who is she and where is she from?

N

ozwi Maxegwana is a born again child of God, who comes from a Christian background where music is used as the medium of communication. I am the fifth child of the nine siblings and yes I am a God fearing woman. I was born and raised kwaNomaheya in Ngqamakhwe, a small town in the former Transkei. I am working for an arts organization as a receptionist in East London, apart from that Nozwi is a song writer,

gospel singer, poet, author of a poetry book “Be wise, you wise man, minister of the word of God and a wonderful MC. What was it like growing up in Ngqamakhwe? Growing up I was just like any other kid though I was raised under a strict hand of my parents. They were instilling in me the Christian values and I was not very interested in this as I saw it hindering my joy until I grew up and started to understand and value their teachings. When Growing up was there any sign that you will one day be an artist?

www.Introvert. com

Not at all, as I indicated earlier on that I come from a musical background but I hated music. I was forced to sing in Sunday school choir and also at school, huh I did not like music at all. Between writing and Music, which one is your first love? Mhmmm difficult question! I sing what I have written most of the times so separating the two is not easy. I guess I spend more time in music than in writing but I love them both because that is how I communiicate with God and people.

3rd ISSUE JUNE 2016

MUSICIAN

When and why did you begin writing?

M

y mother is a poet and she can write songs, though she never get a chance to disclose her craft, I believe I inherited my writing from her. During my school days my English teacher would choose me to represent my school in unprepared topics but I just did not understand why because I was never a loud student

I started writing in 2007 and this was triggered by working in an art environment. I believe this is a calling for me because it brings harmony and stability in my life. I just cannot imagine my pen dried up.

What inspired you to write your first book "Be wise you wise man? I believe by writing a book you convey a message even to the generations to come. Even if you die your book will continue speaking on your behalf. Nothing beats a written message I believe.

How did you come up with the title? In this walk of life everybody regards him/herself as wise but I notice that in the actual fact the most stupid people are the ones who think of themselves as prudent. They don’t see any reason to acquire more knowledge, I believe that the more knowledge you enquire is the more you become a wise man. Wisdom is not a matter of lip service actually it is the people you live with who can see your wisdom exhibited by your paths and decisions you make.

What is the book all about? Can you share a line or two of your work with us? This is a collection of motivational poems, aiming at reviving even those who happened to be knocked down by life. The honest truth is there are gifts we are born with but not everybody is able to activate and cultivate this inner beauty. When God gave us these unique gifts He wanted us to enjoy life and be the salt in this crooked world. One of my poems is titled Attitude: “Positive attitudes are the foundation of success. Failure is the offspring of negative attitudes. Be careful of what you think; your thoughts may shape your life.”

3rd ISSUE JUNE 2016

MUSICIAN

Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp? Yes there is, I have discovered that so many people are confused, abused, and unaware of their inner beauty. This is the mission to heal the wounded, encourage the discouraged, and revive the dreams of those who have lost hope. The exquisiteness of each and every human soul needs to be poured out to the nations for the benefit of the whole world.

What was the hardest part of writing your book? When I was writing this book my main aim was to reach out not only the Christian community but everybody so I had to strike the balance without compromising my beliefs.

What books have most influenced your life most? The bible wow that’s my favorite book and then Think and Grow rich by Napoleon Hill.

You are also a musician; tell me more about your music and how it all started. As I indicated earlier on that music is flowing in my blood, but I only discovered my love for music in 1999. I became the songwriter and conductor for the church choir, and then I came up with my group called Mission to heal which sung beautifully with reach and unique voices. In the year 2012 I decided to respond to my calling for music but it was only towards the end of 2013 where I went to the studio to record my debut album called Grace. Then I released it towards the end of 2014, I have composed about 70% of this album. I called it Grace because it is the product of the grace of God actually I live by the grace of God, He has been so patient with me showing me the right paths. The response is good and it is receiving airplay form the radio stations. Which one do you think is better, writing a song or writing a book? I think it’s easy to write a song because you just pass the message in your heart at that particular time, but when it comes to the book you have to do some research and gather the information knit it together. www.Introvert. com

I was also offered a slot in a local radio station to recite my poems, and also a local magazine featured my poems, an international magazine editor chose one of my poems for an editor’s choice slot. PERSONAL GROUND

ON PERSONAL GROUNDS By introvert.com Not everything is for everyone , I mean I don't have to do what others do, go where others like to go, act or believe in what my peers believe in. Most of all I don't thing its compalsary to wear every fashion that's being launched. Unlike others, I really think I don't have to do everything or follow every trend just to fit in. Even if I don't fit in, I will love myself and be comfortable in my own skin wearing whatever I like thank you very much. Almost everywhere you'd see a group of young girls dressed up and there will be that one girl who would not be left un-noticed, you can never miss her out. There is totally nothing wrong with her but she just doesn't feel like she fits in. You can actually see it through her body language.

Believe me you, even her friends will do everything in their power to make her feel like she doesn't belong. Not because she doesn't have good taste when it comes to latest fashion, but because she doesn't prefer the same style as her peers.

She is miss interpreted by others because they never learned to be their own person and when someone does they react negatively. Some react this way because of their insecurities, some because they lack understanding or knowledge on what really is fashion.

This kind of pressure from your peers will sometimes drive you into wearing things that you never thought you'd wear. I really wonder, how is it benefiting you to try to please your friends? I really do not think it is beneficiary, I think it is more uncomfortable than Cinderella’s step sisters trying on her lost shoe.

But following every fashion trend does not make you a fashion guru. These days I noticed that fashionisters in the townships, young or old are gearing up in "Dope" branded items. Be it leggings, hoddies, crop tops, dresses etc., it’s just not so dope if you ask me. To me fashion is not as vital, style is. Yes we take fashionable items and create style out of them, but there is a fine line between the two and most people tend to miss that point out.

FINANCE

THE MONEY MATTERS When it comes to making decisions about money one needs to be sober minded. Money decisions are important, irrespective of what you do. The discussions you make now about your money can either create a safety net for you and your family or can have your bank account squeaky clean. Sinazo Liwa, a financial adviser from Lingelihle financial advisers, " any kind of income, wherever it’s a full month salary or money you gain from investment it is important to use it wisely and make sure you don't over spend. The money can be used to safeguard your future financially no matter how much you earn."

Investing your money sounds like a good plan. But when you decide on investing look carefully and do your research. You don't want to end up investing in a scheme and end up with nothing. Also do not put all your money in investment, take a potion that you think is fine for you and will not leave you bankrupt. Investing in property or properties is not a bad idea as well. Well that also depends on your capacity to do so, but if you plan right, even though find a professional financial adviser.

Money matters can be very difficult to handle, especially if you like spending a lot. If you do go shopping, think about the dept you getting yourself into. If you paying with cash, ask yourself if you really need the item you about to buy. Make sure that you get your facts straight and not make unnecessary purchases.

A Newer Method: Pay Yourself First How It Works You may not know this but one of the best saving strategies is to pay yourself first. What this means is that you designate a certain amount of your paycheque as your pay and you pay that money to yourself before you pay your bills or anyone else. This amount can be maybe 10% of your paycheque. It can be any amount that you decide. The important part is that you pay yourself first rather than last. Most people pay all of the bills first and then save anything that might be left over. For most people, that method of saving doesn’t really work because nothing is left over to save.

first priority. The nice thing about this method is if your budget is a little tight, it forces you to make adjustments elsewhere and your savings continue to grow.

Paying yourself first also makes sense. Why are you going to work every day anyway? To earn money for someone else? No way. You go to work to earn money for you and your family. That’s why you should pay yourself first—to make sure that your first priority is taken care of, and that is you. It is not likely that anyone else is going to take care of you because they assume that you are taking care of yourself.

If you pay yourself first, then money will get saved because paying yourself is now your

Pay Yourself Automatically When you pay yourself first, you should set up an automatic way of doing this so that you don’t even have to think about it—it just happens. You can get your employer to deduct a certain amount and put it in your RRSP or you can set up automatic transfers with your bank. You can do that online or at your local branch. Most people who use this method find that they very quickly get used to living on a little less and soon they don’t miss the amount that they are paying themselves in their savings account.

How to Become a Millionaire—Automatically Another amazing thing about using automatic deductions or transfers to pay yourself first is that you can use it to become a millionaire—automatically. This may sound crazy, but it actually works. If someone automatically had R2000 transferred from each of their biweekly paycheques into their investment account from when they were 25 until they were 65, they would end up with over R1,000,000 if they averaged a 7% rate of return on their investments. So a normal person can become a millionaire automatically without winning the lottery. This plan would require a little more sacrifice than most people are willing to make in their twenties, but it is entirely possible. Now you know how to become a millionaire. If only you were 25 again. The Smartest Method to Save Money: Have a Spending Plan The very best method to saving money is to create a Spending Plan or a Budget (learn how to make a budget). With a budget you figure out what your income is and what your expenses are. Once you know these two things, you can look for ways to reduce your expenses or increase your income to allocate an amount of money that you can afford to save. This is how the world’s largest corporations do it and this is how most of the world’s successful business people do it. This method takes a little bit of work at the beginning and a check-up every year or two, but it works. The secret to this method (if you want to call it that) is to identify what you are spending money on so that you can begin to plan your spending. Once you begin to plan your spending, you will gain control over it and you will be able to plan to spend money on your savings. In other words, you will plan to put money into your savings account. Many people don’t like to plan their spending because it involves a little bit of work (once a year). No one is saying that success will come easily, but this little bit of work will pay off big time in many areas of your finances. We dare you to try it - what have you got to lose?

Ways to Save Money - How to Do It

Use One Savings Account For some people, keeping things really simple works best. Ideally you should have . . .

An emergency savings account At least one savings account for major purchases A retirement savings account If this is too much for you, get started by simply putting your money into one savings account, and then grow your savings from there.

You can put money aside on a regular basis for a down payment for a house, a car, or for your retirement. To get started, all of this money can go into one account, and it can double as your emergency fund as long as you don’t have “emergencies” on a regular basis.

Use Many Savings Accounts If you find a bank or credit union that offers a free savings account, you can open up several savings accounts. Then every time you get paid, you can put money into each of these accounts for every specific thing that you are saving for. This way you can keep your money safe from accidently being spent, and it will be there when you need it.

These accounts don’t have to be actual bank or credit union savings accounts; they can be high interest accounts, Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs), RRSPs, term deposits, mutual funds, or other investments. Just make sure that you don’t lock up money in a long-term investment that you might need in the short term (learn more about the differences between saving and investing for the short-term versus long-term).
