The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History Traveling Exhibition Service Catalog
Greetings, It is my pleasure to tell you about an exciting opportunity for your organization. The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has an intriguing variety of traveling exhibits available for lease. These exhibits are available to your organization, conferences, museums, or facilities and are leased on a monthly basis. These exhibitions can be installed with relative ease, and the artifacts are accompanied with didactic text labels and additional interpretation panels. We collaborate with sponsors, museums, and universities to spread ideas through the use of these exhibitions in an effort inspire people of all ages and backgrounds. We offer five separate exhibitions ranging in topics from: “African Americans in World War II;” the scientific discoveries made by Marie Curie and Lise Meitner; Erik Nitsche’s “Atoms for Peace” lithographic fine art prints created for the General Dynamics Corp; an exhibition combining detailed nuclear reactor drawings and art works titled “Art of the Reactor;” and series of propaganda posters used during World War II. These relatively small exhibitions are intended to educate and explore events and themes both directly, and indirectly, related to nuclear science and history. For your consideration, please enjoy our traveling exhibitions catalog. Please feel free to contact me at any time with your questions or for scheduling information. If someone else in your organization would benefit from this information, please pass these materials along to them, or contact me, and I will be happy to send out additional information. The genius of Erik Nitsche encompasses virtually the entire sphere of visual communications. Nitsche’s prodigious and globetrotting career spans nearly 60 years. His historic relationship with General Dynamics began in 1953 with the design of a series of three sets of posters dedicated to public perceptions of nuclear energy. “Atoms for Peace” contains portions of several lithographic public-relations-oriented fine artprint programs created for the General Dynamics Corp. in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The prints depict Nitsche’s interpretations of nuclear energy uses, modern technologies for the era, and feature posters created for promotion of nuclear energy in foreign countries which are imprinted in the languages of those regions.
