AW22 INTRODUCTION THROUGH THE
Eyes OF AN Artist
AUTUMN / WINTER 2022
Introducing the AW22 collection from NÛ entitled Through The Eyes of An Artist.
AUTUMN / WINTER 2022
On our 25th anniversary, we look to the art world and the bountiful sources of creative inspiration that surround us. Posing the question, ‘what is an artist?’, we embrace the concept of style as art, inviting us to discover the creative individual within us all. Whether in the sharp lines of architectural form or the organic fluidity in nature, inspiration is waiting to be found. This season, we have collaborated with two artists, Morten Bøgh and Bruno Jakobsen to create bespoke prints inspired by their specific disciplines. This is AW22. Feminine. Raw. Sophisticated.

THROUGH THE Eyes OF AN Artist AUTUMN / WINTER 2022
− 1ST RELEASE −
Like an artist’s palette, this season is a collage of textures and colours that meld together with effortless fluidity. From light, draped silhouettes to sturdy coated textures, pieces are defined by their mix and match appeal. From light statue grey and warm mole to soft vanilla and earthy ochre the palette is reminiscent of a typical autumn day; think fallen leaves and complex grey skies. Garments are cold-dyed for a unique, multi-faceted finish and detailed with studs, beads and an unusual rubber print.
Will be in shops and online in July/August

“Make full use of your senses. Be where you are. Look around - just look, do not interpret. See the light, shapes, colors and structures. Pay attention to the small details in every single little thing”

Designer, architect and artist, Morten Bøgh Andersen is a multitalented creative based in Denmark. Describing his portfolio of work as ‘A life story’, he is known for his signature palette built exclusively on black and white, coal and chalk and gold and silver. “It is always the life that is lived, the stories behind, the future, the nature that is told in the works.“, he says. Morten work as a creative is heavily influenced by his background in the retail space; “I spent years on the floor as a decorator and shop planner, followed by time as a visual merchandiser for SAND. After my time at Sand, I came to B&O as an ‘ideas man’ for the architects. I ended up back in fashion and finally heading back to SAND as a designer. On February 1, 2001, I started my own business.“
As a designer, Morten specialises in interior projects for fashion houses across the globe, focusing on areas including show-rooms, fairs and boutiques. This perfectly complements his work as an architect, which he describes as ‘a matter of chemistry and understanding’. His clients include private homes, beach retreats, schools and health sector clinics. Morten has worked for 27 years as an artist, largely in pictorial
and sculptural ceramics, glass and iron. His work builds on the subtle nuances of life, often drawn from his own personal experiences, and combine a variety of artistic techniques including the textural beauty of spatula work and soft washes to explore depth and texture. “My works are created to give time for thought, calm to space and joy of life.“

Morten Bøgh Andersen.
Created exclusively for NÜ Morten lives with his family, wife Marianne and daughters Emmelie and Signe-Marie outside Randers. His red-brick house is as striking as you would imagine, being home to such a talented multi-artist as Morten. An exquisite marriage of
contemporary art, classic furniture and graphic simplicity, the house is imagined in a palette of muted grayblack, with slate, steel and wood sculptural details throughout. We are delighted to feature a bespoke print by Morten in this
season’s collection. The print, which is characterised by a textural grey wash with flashes of striking gold, has been taken from an original painting by Morten.

Bruno Jakobsen.
Architect and interior stylist An insight into the mind of multi-talented creative who celebrates the innate beauty found in nature. 20
Architect and interior stylist Bruno Jakobsen established his eponymous design studio in 2007. ”Since the start-up of the design studio, the idea has been that it is me and my creative abilities that the customers bought, and that is how it will probably continue to be”, says Jakobsen. Marrying design, interiors and architecture, the BRUNOJAKOBSENDESIGN studio is celebrated for its impeccable eye for detail and a playful approach to materials. Providing unique, innovative solutions that put aesthetics and good craftsmanship in the spotlight, Jakobsen himself is known for his honesty through design, always lead by the client’s desires and needs. With a great love for nature and Nordic architecture, Bruno and his family created The Nordic Barnhouse Project on Instagram
ideas and that I have the freedom to change course in the creative universe if I suddenly get a ‘crazy’ idea.” PRINTS For the NÜ AW22 collection, we are delighted to feature three of Bruno’s bespoke prints, inspired by his work as an architect. Each print is inspired by the different perspectives of an architect, taking the typical graphics of a floorplan or blueprint and reworked with an abstract eye. Each print is placed on a t-shirt from the collection, across a muted, earthy palette, with the addition of our sheer long-sleeved top, adorned with Jakobsen’s ‘Floor’ print.

which documents both his private and work life and boasts over 26000 followers. This year, the project was awarded the Architecture Prize in conjunction with Architecture Day. The plot of the home was carefully decided by Jakobsen based on his careful study of the area; he spent the best part of a year recording the sun’s movement across the plot, observing how the light filtered through the tress. In fact, is was in part this wide variety of native trees that were key to the design; beech, pine, oak, hazel, cherry and elder trees were all to be preserved without compromise. After 15 years at the helm of his studio, Jakobsen is still adamant he remain as the lead on all projects; ”I thrive on the fact that decisions can be made quickly, that I do not have to compromise on
2. Floor – This print is reimagines the floorplan of a building, reworked with an abstract eye to create a striking, complex motif.
3. Elevation – This print is inspired by looking at a building from a side-view, viewing the different levels from top to bottom.

STORY-TELLING THROUGH DESIGN No two days are the same on the Fashion & Textile Design course, as students work with everything from print design to draping, crochet to machine-knitting. The body is a key starting-point on the majority of projects at The Scandinavian
Design College, so illustration and assembly is key, while students are encouraged to embrace the idea of story-telling through fashion and textile design. Surrounded by fields and forests, The Scandinavian Design College is beloved by students and faculty alike for its idyllic location.
AUTUMN / WINTER 2022
A HUB OF CREATIVITY The Scandinavian Design College was founded as a school that centres on the combined disciplines of fashion, architecture and graphic design. The college is structured under four main study programs; Visual Communication, Fashion & Textile Design, Architecture & Urban Design and Furniture, Space & Product Design. The esteemed Fashion & Textile Design program covers a broad field, from everyday garments to couture-like costume, the focus is always on how a design process can generate original ideas. Well known for producing experimental and edgy work, students are well-versed in craftsmanship, shaping, process orientation and artistic play.

Tirpitz Museum
AUTUMN / WINTER 2022
Enter a building like no other, where contemporary architecture collides with the raw brutality of historic structures that tell the story of a time passed. Floor to ceiling glass panels that offer a view into the world contained inside, which spills into the surrounding landscape. Welcome to Tirpitz, home of our AW22 campaign.
The campaign for our AW22 collection has been shot at the inspiring Tirpitz Museum, located on the west coast of Denmark. Designed by architects Bjarke Ingels Group, the striking architecture and form of the building served as the inspiration for the shoot. Also known as the Blåvand Bunker Museum, the museum is built into the dunes of an historic war bunker that was originally built as part of the defence around the city of Esbjerg during the Second World War. THE POWER OF ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Described as ‘a sanctuary in the sand’, the museum juxtaposes the dramatic war history of the Blåvand site with contemporary architecture. Set against the imposing shadows of the original WWII bunker, the newly designed Tirpitz museum sets a contrast to the concrete monolith by camouflaging the landscape and bringing a sense of light into the space. THE INVISIBLE MUSEUM The newly designed courtyard allows access into four underground gallery spaces that have an abundance of daylight even though they are literally carved into the sand. The 2800 m2 ‘invisible museum’ comprises multiple exhibition spaces into a single, breath-taking structure, joined by heath-lined pathways and a central clearing.

A Variety Of Exhibitions With four different exhibitions designed by Dutch agency Tinker Imagineers, and the old Tirpitz bunker that tells the story of Hitler’s gigantic bunker project, the Atlantic Wall, there are plenty of exciting and dramatic stories to dive into.
With stories from the West Coast of to Western Europe’s most stunning exhibition of amber, visitors can also encounter the story of World War II in West Jutland through the eyes of the people who experienced it. Stepping even further back in time,
visitors can take an adventurous trip 14000 years back to experience the last mammoths and the first humans in a brand new exhibition for the whole family.
