Mission: To provide Sisters Country with exceptional recreation opportunities that enhance the livability of our community.

What a year!

2024 has been an exciting and transformative year for Sisters Park & Recreation District. As many in our community know, we entered into a long-term lease agreement with Sisters School District to repurpose the former Sisters Elementary School site into a community recreation center and park. Minor renovations are currently underway to make the building more versatile and welcoming for all ages. We anticipate completing this work in early 2025, at which point all district operations will relocate to this new site.

Throughout 2024, we collaborated with the community to design a brand-new community park that will serve as a centerpiece for recreation in Sisters. This $1.3 million project is generously funded by a $726,268 Oregon State Park Grant, as well as contributions from Pine View Tennis Club and the City of Sisters. The park will feature a range of amenities, including a walking path, pickleball courts, picnic pavilions, and outdoor restrooms. For a complete list of amenities and the latest site plans, visit our website at www.sistersrecreation.com. This exciting project is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer 2025.

Additionally, thanks to a generous donation from a local couple, we will be constructing a preschool playground specifically designed for young children. This playground will support our preschool program while also being accessible to the community outside program hours. Completion is expected in March 2025, and we know our preschool families are eagerly awaiting this wonderful new space.

We encourage you to stay tuned for updates on our move, new programming opportunities, and rental options at our expanded facilities. Have ideas for programs or events you’d like to see? We’d love to hear from you! Email us at SPRD@sistersrecreation.com with the subject line RE: Community Center Program Ideas. Thank you for being part of our journey as we work to make Sisters an even better place to live, play, and connect. Let’s make 2025 unforgettable!

CHILD CARE PROGRAMS

SPRD offers a variety of programs that are designed to take care of your little one when you are not able to!

Preschool Ages 3-5. SPRD offers two preschool options to meet community needs. Our Preschool Plus is a fullday, year-long program for families who are looking for longer care while our Part-time Preschool will operate during the school year for four days a week. Regardless of which program you choose, you can be assured that your student will receive appropriate age-instruction! From 8:30a3p, students will be broken up into groups based on their age. This allows our trained teachers to run a preschool class designed for 3-year-olds and a class designed for 4-yearolds, setting the student up for success. For both programs, students must be 3 years old by September 1, 2024 and fully potty trained. Both programs are eligible for the SPRD scholarship and EDRC. Our preschool program is located in our secured Early Childhood Wing at the future site of our new community center (611 E. Cascade).
