THE KEY TO EUROPE - GOLDEN VISA OBTAINING A RESIDENCE PERMIT WITH THE ACQUISITION OF THE REAL ESTATE IN PORTUGAL GENERAL PRINCIPLES With the introduction of this mechanism is now possible to obtain a Residence Permit in Portugal with the acquisition of real estate for a value equal or greater than EUR 500 000,00. The investment chosen by the applicant for the Residence Permit must have been made at the time the application for the residence

Permit is presented and must be maintained for a minimum period of five years from the date the residence permit is granted.

VALIDITY PERIODS The temporary residence permit is valid for a period of one year from the date of issue and may be renewed for successive periods of two years as long as the conditions necessary for it to be granted remain in place. After that period Portuguese Citizenship may be requested. For the residence permit to granted under these terms, foreign national nationals must

regularize their stay in Portugal within 90 days of their first entry into the country (obtaining, in cases in witch it is necessary, a short term visa - Schengen Visa - issued by the Portuguese Consulate in the country of origin) and prove they have met the minimum quantitative requirements for the chosen investment activity. For the purposes of renewal, applicants must demonstrate that they have stayed in Portugal for at least 7 days (continuous or not) in the first year and 7 days (continuous or not) in each subsequent period of two years.


TAX REGIME - PENSIONERS AND RETIRED PEOLPLE: TAX FREE Retirees or pensioners, who wish to establish their habitual residence for tax purposes in Portugal, will benefit from a tax exemption for a period of 10 years. WHO IS ELLIGIBLE Pensioners, stop paying taxes in

their country of origin because they now have tax residence in Portugal and will be fully exempt from tax in Portugal, due to the particular legal standards for exemption set by the law.
