02 BRIEF
PROJECT BRIEF HIGH RISE APARTMENT Resort property has been a rising trend among property buyer and a go to strategy to promote tourism in Malaysia, more specifically in Melaka. With the advantage of the recognition of worldrenowned UNESCO Heritage City, Melaka has the potential to promote new resort community with will boost Melaka’s tourism industry and economy. Students are required to study the issues pertaining resort homes (i.e. efficiency of utility area, image in heritage zone, environmental aspect regarding near sea development, etc.) and the philosophy behind creating a great resort community by proposing a multi-storey resort property that suitable to the tourist, family, local and foreigner alike. Vertical housing block(s) not less than 4 stories (but not more than 10 storeys). Block[s] may include different types of units that suits various occupants’ category (i.e. single backpackers, family, group, etc.) for example: self-contained studio units, 3 bedroom units, duplex & penthouse. (not more than 80 units & size range 500sqft – 1100sqft). All levels must be accessible by lifts. Common Facilities may include: Back of House (BOH), podium /surface parking, management office, surau, swimming pool + changing room, hall, podium parking, green recreational & children’s play areas, guard house and other facilities that is suitable to sustain the resort property.
Malacca gateway Malaysia is the one place where the colours, flavours, sights and sound of Asia comes together in perfect unison. Ideally located in the Straits of Malacca, and nestled within reach of the worldrenowned UNESCO Heritage City, is Melaka Gateway, a premier mixed development project. By land, the city of Melaka is surrounded by a myriad of convenient transportation links to connect travellers, commercial as well as industrial magnates to this bustling tourism and business destination on the world map. Melaka Gateway is connected to a network of major highways, easily accessible from major cities with a comfortable travelling distance of 1.5 hours from Kuala Lumpur and 2.5 hours from Singapore.
The Site
The site will be in the vicinity of Pulau Melaka or on the newly extended island in accordance to the masterplan as proposed by the development.
MALACCA
Student will need to obtain the proposed masterplan to determine zoning of the island and to consider future development that will affect the proposed Resort Homes. The development must also in accordance to Melaka’s council (Majlis Bandaraya Melaka BersejarahMBMB) and other required authorities’ rules and regulation.

01 BRIEF
PROJECT BRIEF CULTURAL ART CENTRE Malaysia is blessed with a multi-racial society consisting mainly Malays, Chinese and Indians. The many different ethnicities that currently exist in Malaysia have their own unique and distinctive cultural and art identities, with some crossover. Sadly, while we have so much culture and values here in the East, the Western ways are always hanging over our society – it is changing our language nuances, value system, our education and our way of life. This will shape the Malaysia of the future.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES To design a Cultural and Art Center which includes and reflects the identity of Malaysia To propose an artistic Cultural and Art center that integrates architecture, visitor servicing/ tourist information, education and training, community resources, and technology spaces To potray Tropical Regionalism concept and contents into the designskills are techniques that a person may use in order to sustain life in any type of environment.Â

BUILDING FUNCTIONS CULTURAL ART CENTRE The building should have a total floor area not exceeding 2,500 square metres, maximum 3-storeys, on a site of not more than 3 acres. There are 4 main components of the building: Cultural Art Centre Cultural and ArtGallery/Plaza, Space,Grand Theater, Office, etc.
The student needs to formulate detailed design brief (SOA) and to carry out site investigation (data collection). Besides, the students also need to analyse site individually and identify design determinant factors/site forces/design generators, which will help students to produce a design scheme that is sympathetic to the site. In addition, the student needs to develop the scheme and produce a complete set of architectural drawings for final design crit. It is important to note that reference to UBBL should be made during the design process and considerations to people with disability (OKU) need to be adressed accordingly
Exhibition
Community Art Centre Art library facilities, cafĂŠ, meeting room, etc etc. Tourist Information Center Interactive building with comprehensive information on what o see and do in the area.
THE SITE The site is located at Klebang, Melaka. It is just one and a half hours south of Kuala Lumpur and a two hours drive from Singapore, which is rich in history, culture, heritage and tradition.
DESIGNCONCEPT
EMBEDED THE CORE The idea comes from the issue as what is axis represent Malacca architecture and Malacca culture in the past. Then? Its still alive in this new era? its the culture still remain the same?Or Malacca has lost their core? Based on research ,I evaluate nowadays, architecture that represent Malacca is reduce.Thie shape only remain on museum and a few house in Malacca.TANGGA BATU is the main element of Malacca that slowly vanish and abandonde around Malacca.

Rising up the Malacca stairs among with stunning peranakan tiles, repeating the images of our old Malacca that once been proud on. The concept is EMBEDEB THE CORE which related too embed the lost identity of old Malacca. PEWARIS as client in line with the aim & objective programme in building with the concept of cultural art center. The door ,as a portal of the link of times, connect the tradition of Baba & Nyonya & the old vibes in the building, which is evoking these memories and find a new ‘pewaris’.
