General Objectives

At the end of the semester, students should be able to produce a good presentation drawing using mix medium.

Objectives

The objectives of this lesson are to: 1. Introduce some basic rendering techniques using pencil and pen medium. 2. Introduce a scale of tonal values used to define the lightness or darkness perceived in drawings.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. Explain the difference technique and use of each medium. 2. Reproduce various rendering techniques using pencil and pen. 3. Use the scale of tonal values used to define the lightness or darkness perceived in drawings.

Basic rendering and application of techniques to achieve contrast in drawing

Prior Knowledge

Students have learned the following items in previous classes: 1. Basic principles of design 2. Types of lines and when to use each lines 3. Types of grades of pencil (HB, 2B, 4B and 6B) and drawing pen (0.1,0.3,0.3 and 0.6)

1. What did you do last night? 2. Did anyone read the newspaper this morning? 1. Play the clip of different technique of sketching 2. Ask students if they have done it in real life 3. Explain each techniques’ differentiation 4. Explain each techniques’ advantages and disadvantages 5. Ask students the way to do it correctly based on the clips shown before (Evaluation of Learning Outcome 1) 6. Give demonstration on how to apply and step by step process using pencil and pen 7. Ask students to follow each technique in a piece of paper (Evaluation of Learning Outcome 2) 8. Assessment/Evaluation of Learning Outcome 3 a. Activities (pair work): Ask student to find a partner. b. Give student a handout (with drawings). c. Ask students to reproduce the drawings, two sets of drawing; all types of techniques with pen and pencil. d. Each pair will share the difficulty in reproducing the drawings using pen and pencil ; good way to get the right light and shadows. 1. Restate the content. 2.
