On an individual level, the everyday living routine of a resident will evolve with the emergence of the sharing p a ra d i g m , a n d h e n c e d o m e s t i c environments should adapt to such. The studio therefore sought to envisage new modes of private living that complements the sharing neighbourhood. This is inexplicably linked to the culture existing in Joo Chiat as well. Where the shophouse used to be the basic unit of domestication, its roots are anchored deep in the collective consciousness of the residents. With the means of augmented reality, the studio attempts at preserving heritage and culture even as modes of living evolve and change with the emergence of the sharing culture.
在个人层面上，随着共享范例的出 现，居民的日常生活作习将会随着 急剧改变的环境而做出调整以便适 应这种情况。因此，工作室也需谋 求设想如何为如今新的私人生活方 式，做出相应的补充去配合分享社 区。 这 也 对 如 切 现 有 的 文 化 带 来 莫 名的冲击。例如店铺以前是居民生 活的基本条件之一，这集体意识早 已根深 蒂 。 随 着 共 享 文 化 的 急 速 发 展已成现实，并也融入大多数人的 生活模式中，工作室也同时致力于 保护旧 有 的 遗 产 和 文 化 。

Why augmented reality? 增强现实的理由
In this dimension of shar ing, The future of how a culture and heritage of a particular location can be shared with others through the modification of the shophouse t ypology found abundantly in Joo Chiat and commonly around Singapore is proposed.
The project seeks to cease the immor talisation of the conser ved shophouse by proposing the next step to its evolution, enabled by the advent of augmented reality.

The project hopes to solve two issues: the gated and heavily institutionalised re s o u rc e s o f t h e ex i s t i n g h e r i ta g e, and the spatial limitations of the compartmentalised shophouses. I t ’s n o t t h e exc e p t i o n a l , bu t t h e operational that defines the everyday, functioning life of a city.

Hence, the new t ypology fufills not just a physical and spatial purpose but an important role in introducing a new sharing culture (of sharing culture) by acting as a social recorder.
