INTERCHANGE AV Hub | Hybrid Streets Interchange, from the word inter-changeable is a two-tiered network of hybrid streets driven by a core powerhouse, the AV hub serving as a distribution centre for moving people and logistics. The architecture and urbanscape is a prototype that exemplifies the proto employment of self driving vehicles as highly configurable and mobile functional social spaces for sharing that redefines the norm and conventional understanding of spaces.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW Activating the Streets Reimagine autonomous vehicles as not just merely a means of transportation to get from point A to point B but mobile spaces with functions. What the hybrid street network offers are flexible social public spaces that facilitates sharing practices. These AV pods as mobile spaces can change streetscape and form pop-up activities such as bazaars at vairous times of the day.

HYBRID NETWORK Permeable Streets 2040 LTA Masterplan postulates that 50% of vehicles in the future will be self driving cars. Using that as a gauge, the employment and urban design would be with respect to these parameters set. The implementation of Automomous Vehicles requires less space and allows publlic pedestrian walkways to widen. By lifting up “fast track direct connections onto elevated platforms and lowering service and logistic movements underground, the groundscape becomes more permeable in addition blurring the boundary between road, pedestrian and buildings.

VERTICAL STREETS Parasite Tower Prototype Av pods latch on the facade of the tower like a parasite forming the functional spaces of the building. Shared in between spaces of the towers allows the pods to combine creating a larger common area for co-sharing. The tower also feature a waste to energy convertor that receives waste from the local food services and then turns it into energy to power the autonomous pods while latched onto the building, as part of the closed looped self sustainable city.
