One-Of-A-Kind Format
Senior executives have commitments across geographies and rarely stay in the same city for long, making it almost impossible to commit to an MBA program that requires an anchor to be cast in any particular city.
6 two-week segments over 15 months designed to accommodate the demanding schedules of busy executives.
Our concentrated class schedule minimizes travel and disruption, allows participants to maintain corporate responsibilities, and accommodates demanding travel schedules, job relocations and position transfers.
Segments are held in 4 different locations: n 2x Singapore n 2x Los Angeles n 1x Shanghai n 1x Bangalore
The convenient block format allows dedicated focus on both academic work and peer-to-peer learning. Participants can fly in for the segments from anywhere in the world, commit full-time for two weeks and return to their work full-time before the next segment with richer perspectives and immediately apply what they have learned. Classes are conducted in residence at NUS in Singapore and UCLA in Los Angeles, and in Shanghai, China and Bangalore, India. Each segment consists of three course modules. A small class size facilitates interaction and peer-to-peer learning.
Get started. Don’t let the present impinge your future!

Applied Learning Management Practicum The Management Practicum, a doublecredit course spanning two quarters, is an extensive and integrated consulting project designed to allow participants an opportunity to “test-drive” their management and leadership skills, and apply the analytical tools and frameworks acquired in the program to real-life business and organizational dilemmas across a broad range of organizations.
Each team works on a specific problem or topic that is related to the strategic direction of the organization and is cross-functional in nature, in that it requires each team to research and analyze issues from the perspective of more than one business function. Students work to define and solve strategic problems, explore business opportunities, enhance organizational competitiveness, and improve organizational and managerial effectiveness. The Management Practicum also focuses on strategic issues that are international or multinational in scope and that bridge key Pacific Rim countries. UCLA – NUS EMBA participants and client organization representatives agree jointly on a scope of work that will result in a complete, in-depth, strategic business plan at the behest of an organization’s management. The plans can include an analysis of the organization’s value proposition in relation to the competitive environment and generally incorporate financial, marketing, operational and strategic recommendations based on extensive primary and secondary research that the teams conduct.
“Trying to manage the complexities of managing a 24/7 global news operation, we are constantly having to adapt the way we are doing business. The team from the UCLA - NUS Executive MBA program provided not only new insights, but also recommendations that we could actually implement. Working with such a diverse team of talented professionals was a real privilege.” Simon Sproule Director, Communications Renault-Nissan Alliance, France Management Practicum Client
22
“The Management Practicum was incredibly helpful since it provided me with real life solutions to a business scenario that was collectively tackled by a team of classmates from various industries and countries. The focus on teamwork, the insights gained and the great mixture of backgrounds made the challenge a great experience for life.” Dr. Cyril Toma (Malaysia) Medical Director Prince Court Medical Centre UCLA – NUS EMBA Class of 2010
23
Beyond The Classroom Instead of simply studying a single economy, during its international residencies the UCLA – NUS Executive MBA program immerses students in four global cultures and provides insight into four different approaches to conducting business that cannot be duplicated in locally-based programs.
The UCLA – NUS Executive MBA program’s curriculum is carefully designed to align and integrate with each specific location and provide a valuable experiential component that adds to the richness of the classroom learning and shows participants firsthand how the concepts and strategies that they are learning are applied in practice within the local context. This is accomplished through a variety of means, including visiting regional companies, hosting local speakers, discussions with company representatives to supplement case discussions, and simply by experiencing the different regions outside of classroom time. Leadership Development UCLA – NUS Executive MBA participants have access to a portfolio of leadership development activities that are designed to develop and nurture effective and successful global leaders. Leadership skills are developed at the individual, team and organizational levels throughout the program. In addition to the core leadership courses, extensive instructional and conceptual content to hone leadership skills is also provided throughout the curriculum. Career Management Resources Whether participants seek to ascend to the next level within their existing organization or embark upon a career change, UCLA Anderson and NUS Business School provide dedicated and customized career management resources to UCLA – NUS Executive MBA participants. These services are specifically aimed at upper mid- and senior-level career professionals and directly address the skills needed to enable UCLA - NUS Executive MBA participants to develop lifelong career management skills and take control of their career trajectory. A sample of the available resources include: n Individual executive career coaching n Career workshops n Web-based career management resources n Alumni career resources
