Foreword The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore is pleased to present you with the 2011 CV Book for the 1-year Master in Public Administration for mid-career students and 2-year Master in Public Policy for young professionals. This book contains CV’s of 103 outstanding candidates from 33 countries. They bring with them a tremendous diversity of experience from the public and private sector and above all an unmatched enthusiasm to bring about positive change in the institution they will work for in the future. Training at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy offers many advantages to these scholars. It is a part of the National University of Singapore, ranked as amongst the top 3 universities in Asia. Established in partnership with the Harvard Kennedy School, the School aims to educate, train, and empower a new generation of globally minded policymakers and leaders. The students and alumni come from over 55 countries around the globe and are ambassadors, senators, editors, social entrepreneurs, private sector leaders who are on the ground making a difference. Please find below information on our two programmes from where our students are drawn for the purposes of this CV book. MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (MPA) This is a one-year degree programme for mid-career students with five to fifteen years of professional experience. The programme has been designed to broaden the perspectives of civil servants, managers of public enterprises and multilaterals, executives of private sector firms engaged in public management, journalists and lawyers. The MPA programme places great emphasis on management and decision making. MASTER IN PUBLIC POLICY (MPP) This is a two-year degree programme for young professionals with 1-5 years of work experience. Students learn the fundamental skills of public policy analysis from the disciplines of politics, economics and public management. The MPP also offers the invaluable opportunity for qualifying students to obtain a double degree from one of our partner institutes which include SIPA, Columbia University, the LSE, Sciences Po, Paris and University of Tokyo. Students spend one year in Singapore and the second year in New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. This gives them a unique and well rounded exposure to the best practices in the East and West.
