Case Study ‘A’ rated building with natural gas A low cost, Part L compliant solution.

Glendale, The Old Nurseries, Delgany, Co. Wicklow

The Gas Boiler / NuTech SEH system:

Improved technologies and improved solutions

• is lower cost to install than other systems;

When specifying a new development’s energy solutions, the improved number and variety of systems creates a dilemma for any developer. Ensuring that you “future proof” the development while keeping pace with ever changing customer preferences can be a challenge. By constantly researching industry developments and choosing award winning technologies to complement the benefits of natural gas, we offer energy efficient, environmentally friendly, ‘A’ rated, Part L compliant solutions that will keep your customers happy for years to come.

• is easier to maintain; • has lower CO2 emissions than other heating systems. • has lower running costs for the home owner; and • is easier to operate;

Part L compliant – only one of the boxes we tick for the builder A cosy living room glowing from a lit fire and being able to prepare meals using a gas flame make the difference between a house and a home for most families. That, coupled with the expectations of having instant hot

water on tap and hot radiators at the flick of a switch, is traditionally what we have offered to households and developments. It’s obvious that bespoke, integrated energy systems are becoming the norm. By integrating solar enhanced water and heating solutions with natural gas products, a system is introduced that satisfies the stringent Part L BER requirements and, while ticking so many boxes for builders and home owners alike, offers an ‘A’ rated solution.

Benefits of using the solar enhanced heating and hot water system Energy demand is reduced to a minimum level Fully integrates with a natural gas boiler that heats on demand

“Best Renewable Energy Product” at the SEAI 2014 Energy Show A system developed with NuTech, Ireland’s leading supplier of integrated renewable energy systems. The NuTech system (“Best Renewable Energy Product” – SEAI 2014 Energy Show) when integrated with natural gas, further increases the energy efficiency of your development by delivering solar energy into the house that is used for both space heating and domestic hot water heating. Combining a natural gas boiler with this system completes the picture making this instant, efficient, cost-effective ‘A’ rated solution a reality.

An award winning solar enhanced system that delivers up to 70% of hot water.

Solar hot water is delivered to the hot water cylinder and also to a single fan coil assisted radiator located in the hallway or landing. This provides “free energy”; unlike the average solar energy system, this system delivers solar heat to the house during autumn winter and spring. During summer the built in electronic control system ensures solar heat is only delivered to heat the hot water cylinder and no heat is delivered to the house itself as ‘Summer Mode’ will have been selected by the home owner Complements the portfolio of natural gas products including gas fire and gas cooking and hot water on tap The system surpasses all of the Part L requirements of the building regulations, including the renewable energy requirement

How it works: The ideal solution for the builder who wants to meet the part L requirements in a single, simple package using standard construction methods. The system:

The solution we offer is simplicity itself. The system delivers a straightforward, maintenance free solution that can be installed by the builders’ own plumbing team. This, combined with natural gas, makes the house a very attractive option for any prospective homebuyer. Homeowners enjoy instant and controllable heat and hot water. They can now have gas fires and gas hobs in their high spec, beautifully designed kitchens and living rooms. Energy that is cost-effective, clean, efficient and instant… exactly what homebuyers want. The winning formula that meets the building regulatory requirements of Part L:

A3 rated build Insulation:

• Maximum allowable U-Values in all elements.

• Lower U-Values (higher levers of insulation)

• Good quality double glazing

• High quality triple glazing

Ventilation:

Good level of air-tightness with natural ventilation throughout with extract fans in all wet rooms and window vents in all windows.

Proven Technologies

A simple Positive Input Ventilation system provides the house with fresh warm air in the autumn, winter and spring.

• Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation system may also be used as an alternative

Gas boilers delivering instantaneous heat to standard radiators running at standard intermittent

The solar array is installed on the roof

The pump station delivers solar heat to the hot water cylinder and house

An electronic controller automates the entire system

Solar energy is delivered to the solar hot water cylinder and can be used in the evening. Furthermore, additional solar energy is delivered to a single fan coil radiator giving low grade “free energy” to heat the house.

Standard radiators are used throughout the house as the main space heating system.

• 300 litre solar cylinder located in the hot-press

• 300 or 400 litre solar cylinder located in hot-press

no cut outs, no oversized radiators, no second guessing cost trade-off between peak and off peak

There are no confusing or complicated control panels, the homeowner simply selects whether to use the summer or winter mode on the display unit.
