GENERAL MAINTAINED EMERGENCY LUMINAIRE INSTRUCTIONS
Issue 07: 25/05/2022
These instructionsshould be followed in conjunction with thestandard luminaire instructions. Please read carefully and passto the end user/responsible person for retention and future reference.
INSTALLATION
1. Following theinstallation of theluminaire in accordance with the standard luminaire installationinstructions, aseparate permanent live supply should beterminated inthe incoming supply terminal block intheluminaire, intheconnection marked‘LPERM’. The permanent supply MUST betakenfrom the samephaseas the corresponding switchedsupply and MUST bewired at the switchboard sothat upon instances of tests, it is isolated at the sametime as theswitchedsupply.
2. N.B. toavoidpotential damagetothe battery please ensurethe permanent live is energized as soon as possiblefollowing connection of thebattery to the module.
3. Upon restorationof the powersupply tothe luminaire, check that the indicator LEDfittedwithintheluminaire illuminates green. This indicates that the batteries arecharging and that the charging circuit is healthy.
4. Allowthe battery tochargefor an uninterrupted period of not less than 24 hours prior to carryingout afull discharge test.
MAINTENANCE
5. The battery pack inthis luminairemust be replaced when it is no longer able tosatisfy its full ratedduration.
6. In emergency mode the light levelof theluminaire willbe at a reduced output. Regular maintenanceand gentlecleaning are recommended so as to ensure that theEmergency Output Factor (E.O.F) remains at specifiedlevels.
7. Isolatethe supply beforeservicing.
8. Pleaseensurethat the emergency flux is not compromisedat any time throughout the luminaires design life.
9. DO NOT INSULATION TEST
Caution:
The battery packin thisluminaire is aLithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)type which includes adedicated protection circuit. If replacing the battery pack, the specification and chemistrymust beidentical to that detailed on the battery label.
Self-Test Description
Self-Test Operation: Onconnection of apermanent livesupply, theunit willenter anautomatic commissioningcycle as detailedin thetable below. During this cycle, the permanent livesupply shouldnot be interrupted as this will result inthecharging timer resettingto zero and restartingthecommissioning process. Followingsuccessful completion of thecommissioningcycle, in line withBS EN 62034 andBS EN 50172:2004, theunit will perform a 30 secondfunctiontest automatically at monthly intervals for 11months, and inthe12th month, a full rated duration test will beperformed.
Notes on Fault Code:
The unit monitors health/status inboth standby (charging), andself-test modes. If thebattery is disconnected instandby mode, theLED indicator will ‘fast flash red’, as inthe table above. On re-connectionof the battery, theLED indicator will revert togreen. If the unit detects a fault to either the battery orlamphead during a test, it will ‘fast flash red’, and remain inthis status until the fault is fixed andthe unit has completed a further successful test.
Note: In order to maintaincompliance of theself-test system, the unit is factory set to undertake tests randomly. Because of this, tests may occur at any timeinthe 30-day interval period. Cautionshould beexercisedwhere this may be inconvenient, or cause disturbance, such as in hospitals, nursinghomes and other premises with sleeping accommodation.
