6 DWELLING BUILDING Location : Garraf, Barcelona Teachers : Jordi Queralt + Pau Pérez [ETSALS] Academic Course : 2011-2012 6
Plan for a residential building in Garraf, a coastal village near Barcelona. The building is located in first beach line, in an elevated situation respect the sea level. The project holds a semi-public square which will have a remarkable importance in the urban scale by connecting the sea with the rest of the village. The building includes 6 dwellings of different sizes: 2 dwellings of 80, 60 and 40 square meters. In addition, the complex accomodates a roof comunal space and private commerces in the ground floor plan.
down Model. Insertion in the context
SEMI-PUBLIC URBAN SPACE The volumetry of the building closes an interior space leading entrance to the dwellings which generates a semi-public space used not only for the users of the building but also for the rest of the village.
URBAN CIRCULATION FLOW The volumetry of the buiding also generates a wide passage which holds an important circulation flow while connecting the seafront with the rest of the village.
GENERATION OF VIEWS The disposition in section of the different bodies creating the building allow sea views from all the dwellings. From the opposite street the villagers also have an overview of the urban square and the sea.

EXISTENT BUILDING
ENWIDEMENT OF URBAN PASSAGE
The new building breaks the compact shape of the existent one, creating inner spaces and wide openings to both streets. Due to this strategy we create a public square in this inner space, much larger and much more related with the urban context than the previous one.
The interior space of the new building includes a wide passage which connects the seafront with the back streets of the village. By doing this we are reinforcing the existent urban circulations and , at the same time, maximizing both the square and the passage. N

APPROPIATED SPACE The building is located in an underused area inside the campus. The building is closed in itself; the disposal of the different volumes enclose a central patio preserving the existent vegetation.
ACCESSES TO THE MAIN PATIO The starting volumetry is emptied in two points in order to create the entries to the main patio. The great openings in the bar volume connect visually and physically the building with the campus. The lateral entry is thought for the external users of the parking, and also for the students in the campus, who will be guided following the wall’s direction.
VISUAL CONTROL The wall in contact with the existing topography has a discontinuous height in purpose to set the existent vegetation as another facade of the building. Two small patios appear. They guarantee illumination and ventilation to the interior spaces. On the other hand, this patios will work as brise-soleils to avoid sights to the installation architecture building facade by the prolongation of the roof structure above them. 17

The buiding is based on two great metallic bridges. Appart from their structural function, they are part of the visit itinerary. This bridges start in the main street generating the entry for the visitors. They penetrate the production building providing entrance of light and diagonal views between the visitors and the production area. This metalic beams will end generating two beer tasting rooms with direct views of the sea . In the lowest level we can find an exposition area for the visitors. This volume will include two patios which organize the circulations and provide natural illumination the whole space. On the roof of this volume there are the plantings which provide prime resources for the elaboration of beer. The plantings can also be contempled from the metalic bridges.

DONALD JUDD GALLERY Location : Unlocated Teacher : Juan Hidalgo [HCU] Academic Course : 2014-2015 32
Proposal for an art gallery to expose the works of the famous american artist Donald Judd. The strategies of the project must deal with the conceptual vision of Judd’s world. Because of this, the initial point of the projectual process was a deep study of Judd’s art in order to apply them with the most coherent criteria. The proposal is quite conceptual. There is no given location for the gallery, so the main point of the project will be the relationship between the different architectural elements and Judd’s works, but also to achieve a condition of deslocation in order to apply the building in as much location contexts as possible.

FISHERMEN’S ASSOCIATION SOCIAL CENTER Location : Palamós , Girona Teachers : Josep Ferrando + Carlos Albisu [ETSALS] Academic Course : 2015-2016 50
Plan for a Social Center in the nautical port of Palamรณs, a coastal town in Costa Brava. . The project is located in a square in front of the Palamรณs dockyard. The revitalization of the existing square and the connection between it and the lower harbour street are some urban goals to achieve in it. The functional programm is divided into two main parts : storage and locker rooms for the fishermen and a public bar, two classrooms and a multipurpose room for the local inhabitants and external visitors.

up Discontinuity in the urban axis
52
Our building is located in the middle of a clear discontinuity in the seafront urban axis. Our intention is to solve this discontinuity by connecting properly the beach promenade (the main street in terms of people aglomeration) with the nautical harbour and its splinter (the main arrival point of tourist ships).

REVITALIZED SQUARE
NEW AMBITS AND PASSAGES UNDER CANTILEVER
SERVANT MODULES AS DISTRIBUTION ORGANISORS
The existing square is poor in terms of urban coherence. Most of its fronts are residential buildings which do not generate any social activity, and the culmination to the harbour is clumsy and does not provide a good peatonal connection between both streets and height levels. The idea is to complete the existent square by generating a new activity front and to create a new square in the lower level which will provide a good arrival from the harbour to the new connection passages. The relative position of two glazed bodies in the square level generate new connection passages and stairs. An upper body creates new entrance and activity ambits thanks to its cantilever, and directs the pedestrians through itself. The organisation of the inner distribution is accomplished by the position of wooden servant modules which divide the served space.
