something old, something new With many years experience creating, painting and restoring traditional chinoiseries and European scenics, our designers wanted to apply the same panoramic scale and production techniques to more contemporary compositions. Our 20th century designs are non-repeating, with styles ranging from elegant 30’s inspired floral patterns, through delicate 50’s conversational pieces to bold modern supergraphics. Hand-painted with optional touches of hand-embroidery, the wallpapers are available in a range of colourways on silk and opulent, lacquereffect backgrounds. Each is created with craftsmanship of the highest order and painstaking care, giving a timeless feel to modern motifs. Every fromental wallpaper is made to order with the pattern redesigned to perfectly fit the client’s room. The composition, colours and techniques are tailored to meet individual requirements.

“The tradition of skilled craft has almost disappeared in Europe so we’ve chosen to locate manufacturing in the country that hosts the world’s best painters and embroiderers for the designs we want to achieve, China. We have a window in history to produce works of the beauty and skill which have not been witnessed since the 18th century.” Tim Butcher, Creative Director

blossoms cherry blossom Painted and then finished with hand-embroidery, the stark, angular style of the tree is contrasted by the delicate embroidered cherry blossoms. plum blossom A simple, elegant design depicting plum trees in blossom with touches of hand-embroidery. prunus The richest of the three patterns, prunus is painted in an ‘unconscious’ style. The blossoms are painted and embroidered, the backgrounds a variety of plain and striated silks. Supremely elegant and beautiful, this design has quickly become a favourite for master bedrooms and dining rooms.

“It’s the quirks of their designs - from the turn of a bird’s beak to the shimmer of a cherry blossom which makes fromental’s work worth a second, third or tenth look.” Vogue Living
