van and I became friends while attending John Brown University. I graduated a few years before him and moved away to attend Physician Assistant School. We kept in touch and saw each other when we would get together with our friends. I always looked forward to seeing him. I never thought our relationship would be anything more, but I secretly wished it would be. Once Evan graduated, he moved to Tulsa to begin working. I graduated from PA school and was offered my dream job in Tulsa and I accepted the position. Evan and I found ourselves in the same town once again, and we eventually started dating.
A little over a year later, in July of 2018 we closed on our house. That night, we had dinner and walked around downtown. He started talking to me about our relationship and then he got down on one knee and proposed! I was so surprised that all I could say was “stop”. The shock wore off and I obviously said yes! After the proposal we returned to our new home, and it was full of our closest family and friends. Evan had coordinated them all coming in to surprise me. Evan’s brother actually flew in from Colorado and was hiding and taking pictures of the proposal. We decided to tie the knot in Northwest Arkansas. Willow Brooke Farm was the first venue I visited and 5 minutes into the tour I knew that it was the perfect place for our wedding. It was just outside of Springdale and had the most incredible views. It had a perfect mixture of rustic character and modern elegance. My favorite part was the bridal suite with its elegant decor and practical amenities. This venue provided the perfect backdrop to spend the morning of the wedding getting ready with my family and closest friends. The owners of the venue were warm, kind and genuinely cared about making our day one of a kind.
It took a village to make our day special. My dad and sister built a beautiful arbor as the backdrop of our ceremony, my brother read scripture from my late grandmother’s Bible and my mom was the glue that held us all together. Close family friends helped with decorations, my incredibly talented cousin did my hair and make up, one of my high school teachers coordinated the day and a close friend from our church officiated the wedding. My cousin who manages a local restaurant catered and another close friend was the DJ and emcee for the evening. My friends and family gave of their time and talents and the result was a day crafted in love that we will remember for the rest of our lives!
