(Junior as most know him) spent the
majority of his life in the small, southwest Arkansas town, De Queen. I grew up just a few miles away, in the small, southwest Arkansas town, Nashville. Ironically, our paths never crossed until life took us to Northwest Arkansas. Junior was working in insurance and I was steady at work on my Juris Doctorate degree at the University of Arkansas.
We were two strangers, praying and believing for the right future spouse. One Sunday morning in July of 2017, I was frantically running to catch the elevator to attend New Life Church in Fayetteville (late as usual). Junior was standing, waiting on the same elevator. One corny joke later, I was smitten with his confidence and natural ability for conversation. As Junior puts it, he was just smitten with my smile.

On April 29, 2018, after service at New Life Church, Junior and I loaded up on the same elevator where we met. He pulled out a GoPro video camera and attached it to the wall. I had no idea what was happening. He had been nervous the entire day. Somewhere between tears and my gasping, he asked me to spend the A few weeks later, he asked me on our first rest of my life with him. He had timed date. However, it was on the same day I it perfectly. In the exact moment that found out about my bar exam results. I I said, “Yes,” the elevator doors opened told him, “I will only go out with you, and there stood our families and friends if I get good results. If it’s bad news, I’m cheering and crying. It was a moment cancelling last minute!” Luckily, I passed I’ll never forget!
We decided on November 4, 2018 as our wedding date. I always dreamed of a fall wedding. Barn at the Springs was the perfect venue for our vision. The wedding day was a beautiful, chilly, blustery day. The foliage was exquisite, and our venue had pumpkins set out everywhere, making my fall dreams come true. As soon as we said, “I do,”

the sun peeped out, making for the best golden hour wedding photos. We danced the night away and set off for our honeymoon in Hawaii. We are currently enjoying our first year of marriage and expecting our first baby, Manuel Juarez, in February 2020! Life moves fast, but it is so much sweeter with my best friend by my side.

Michael & Kristi Scott July 5, 2003 Kristi and I first met in 8th grade in Rogers. We shared at least one class together every year for the rest of high school. We dated for about five months during our junior year, but then broke up mostly due to my immaturity, but we were able to remain friends. Graduation night, we took a picture together and said our goodbyes. About six weeks later I had a life changing encounter with God and became a Christian, though I thought I was one already. I felt the need to call Kristi and tell her. It was quiet on the other end of the phone. Then she told me that she woke up thinking about me the week before and had been praying for me. Our relationship grew over the next two months. We were going to different colleges in different states, but I ended up transferring to her university after
freshman year. Two years later we married! After 16 years of marriage, two kids, seven job changes, six homes in three states, health challenges, and the regular stresses of everyday life, we can honestly say that keeping a marriage healthy is not easy. It takes work, prayer, openness, honesty, communication, transparency, v u l n e ra b i l i ty, faithfulness, and forgiveness. Love is having a mutual willingness to sacrifice for one another, even if the other can’t repay it and doesn’t deserve it. We have had our highs and lows, but are always in it together. We committed to never letting problems dwell, but to always talk about issues even when it isn’t easy. Thankfully God has been gracious to us as we try to put Him first, and we are looking forward to the next 16 years and beyond!
