FIRE INSPECTOR The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fire Inspector. Under general supervision of the Director of Building and Permits, the Fire Inspector, inspects new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with state and local fire regulations, codes, and ordinances. The Fire Inspector is also responsible for reviewing architectural drawings for new building construction and additions. The Fire Inspector conducts site inspections to ensure compliance with design documents and applicable City codes and ordinances. Requires a high school diploma and certification as an NFPA or Illinois State Fire Marshal Inspector I. Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in the field of fire prevention and/or inspections is required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. The following International Code Council certifications preferred: Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Plans Examiner. Starting hourly wage is $32.29/hour.
