Lake in the Hills Property Maintenance Inspector

Invitation to Apply: Property Maintenance Inspector The Village of Lake in the Hills welcomes applications for a Property Maintenance Inspector. The purpose of the position is to inspect and enforce compliance of properties throughout the Village using the adopted maintenance code and provisions of the Municipal code. It will require a working knowledge of codes and enforcement practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.

An ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, self-motivated, and have the ability to resolve property maintenance complaints while working independently in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. This individual will also have an enthusiasm for professional development, and will have an ICC certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, or the ability to obtain such certification within one year of being hired. Those with additional certifications and willingness to attend continuing education events will be considered favorably.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but any relevant advanced education is preferred. This position requires at least two years of property maintenance enforcement experience or a comparable combination of related experience and a valid Illinois driver’s license. A working knowledge of a variety of software programs used for code enforcement and Village operations, along with intermediate skills in Outlook and Microsoft Word are required. This position will work well independently, and as part of a team to meet the timely demands of the department that may include public service front counter support as well as assist the Building Commissioner as needed.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $20.71.
