CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR South Holland, Illinois

The Village of South Holland, Illinois (22,000 pop.) has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable person to join a first-rate Planning, Development & Code Enforcement department as a Code Enforcement Officer/Electrical Inspector.

Position Qualifications: A minimum high school diploma or equivalent, a valid State of Illinois Class B Driver’s License. Must have a basic understanding of building construction plans and specifications, and completed a four year Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training with five (5) years of municipal electrical inspection code compliance experience. Considerable knowledge of IBC Codes, modern building construction practices, as well as the local street system is a plus. ICC Certification as a Residential/Commercial Electric inspector is to be obtained within 12 months of hire. Must possess competencies in written and oral communications and command of basic Microsoft Office products.

Essential Functions: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; the safeguarding of the public welfare and protection of property by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials specified, use occupancy, location and repair of all structures and buildings; responding to complaints regarding property maintenance and municipal code deficiencies, preparing reports, violation notices and preparing cases for municipal hearings.; reviewing plans for electrical code compliance, performing onsite inspections for new and existing structures for electrical code compliance. Residential Rental Inspections will also be required. Current salary is $61,484.00 with excellent benefits.
