PART-TIME ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL INSPECTOR The Village of Wheeling Community Development Department seeks a Part-Time Electrical/Mechanical Inspector. Assists the Director of Community Development, who has been designated Code Official, to ensure that all electrical and mechanical construction conforms to Village ordinances, construction codes, safety codes, and any applicable outside agency regulations. Performs scheduled and unscheduled site inspections of electrical and mechanical work. Assists in the review of construction documents and/or materials associated with construction permit requests and modifications. Maintains records of inspections and instructions issued pursuant to department policies and procedures. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in design and/or installation of electrical systems with either concurrent or additional experience in the design and/or installation of mechanical (HVAC) systems, certification or extensive knowledge of State, local, and model code requirements and construction standards as they relate to electrical and mechanical construction, and Valid Illinois Driver’s license. Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective and diplomatic working relationships with external and internal customers also required. Minimum starting hourly rate is $31.45 and the work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Benefits are not included.
