Unlock Your Inner Peace

We are here to provide a •• - -warmth, support, and understanding for Jewish men, women and families healing from the trauma of abuse.

What is Paperweight?

Paperweight is a Dedicated Community Advice Centre that hand-holds clients through a range of crises, seeking practical solutions, expert guidance and appropriately tailored advice.

What crises?

When life takes an unexpected turn. Bereavement. Domestic violence or marital breakdown. Loss of physical or mental faculties. Elder Care – the need for practical support. Housing issues. Loss of income or creeping debts. All these can be made far worse by the ever-present intrusion of paperwork, bureaucracy and stress.

We can support those who are falling through the cracks and your support will enable and enhance our vital services, including:

• money advice clinics – for debt, budgeting and much more ( we have FCA Accreditation)

• family law clinics – for when families rupture

• civil law clinics – including employment and fines

• immigration clinics

• Elder Care - helping the elderly to remain independent in their own home

• Post-bereavement help – at a time when the world has imploded

• Benefits clinics - ensuring entitlements are fully explored

• Housing – we can navigate this very vital but sometimes fraught cornerstone of society

• Paperlite monthly visits – to keep clients on an even keel

So how can Paperweight help?

We have a team of trained caseworkers from all walks of life

who establish a strong barrier between you and the outside world. Then with patience and expertise, they tackle each crisis causing issue, advocate for you and present the strongest case for your support.

But what about dealing with banks and mortgage providers

- I hear they are difficult to deal with?

Paperweight is a unique charity in the community in that it is Registered with the Financial Conduct Authority to enable it to legally negotiate with all levels of lenders and to advise with all the different types of debt.

And how about Court Orders and all the challenging paperwork for divorcing parents?

Paperweight have a Family Law Centre dedicated to helping you with all the answers and providing all the documentation required by the Courts. We work together with Bottei Din to help with the Gett and also have access to pro-bono law firms who will assist in several areas.

Support for the elderly is much in news, what can Paperweight do for clients at this complicated stage of their lives?

Our Elder Care hub is set up exactly for this purpose with the aim of enabling the elderly to receive their maximum entitlements and to navigate their way through a very confusing system so they retain their dignity and independence.

Is there a cost ?

No, Paperweight’s services are free.

So how many clients does Paperweight help?

We are now receiving at least 10 new clients daily who call our helpline

on 0330 174 4300. And have assisted over 20,000 since we started in 2012. That number is the client only, as not only do we not include the family in our statistics, very often family members are completely unaware of our involvement.

Here is a testimonial from just one of many satisfied clients…

“I want to thank you and your brilliant team for all the kindness, support and advice you provide. You are all angels. Life is not a journey of straight lines it is full of twists and turns and dead ends. But as long as people have a guiding light – there is hope. Thanks to Paperweight for continuing to give me and hundreds like me in the community - hope. Your work is chessed.”

So how can the wider community help Paperweight?

Well aside from volunteering for various different roles, they can help with funding, because a free-to-use service is not free of costs!

What’s the simplest way to contribute?

We have a “donate” page on our website but on the 26th/27th January we are hosting our bi-annual matchfunding where every £1 donated will be doubled by generous matchers. www.charityextra.com/paperweight

Our community needs your help.

Petition to the UK Government

Opposition to the Children's Wellbeing and School Bill 2025

To the Honorable Members of the UK Government and the Department for Education ,

As a UK citizen and a member of the Charedi (strictly orthodox) Jewish community, I formally submit this petition to voice my unequivocal opposition to the proposed 'Children's Wellbeing and School Bill 2025' Provisions of this Bill fail to protect the cultural and religious practices of a vibrant and devoted ethnic community We will be unable to comply with its requirements, as to do so would violate the Torah This is not a matter of personal preference, but an unshakeable commitment to our religious principles

The Charedi community is steadfast in its commitment to education and the wellbeing of our children Our results are definitely not behind others For generations, we have successfully educated our children in accordance with our faith-based approach that nurtures their intellectual, moral, and spiritual development However, the Bill imposes requirements that are incompatible with our religious obligations, it erodes the rights enshrined in UK law to freely practice our religion

This is not merely a Charedi issue It is a test of th e government ’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of all its citizens This legislation contradicts the principles of freedom, diversity, and inclusion that have historically made the UK a beacon of ho pe for all communities, it threatens to undermine that legacy and sets a dangerous precedent for the marginalization of faith -based communities.

We urge the government to reconsider the Children's Wellbeing and School Bill 2025 , to respect and accommodate our community ’s needs Legislative changes must not come at the cost of infringing upon fundamental religious freedoms Legislation must include a clear exemption protecting our religious rights .

Should this bill be passed as it stands, and the government will attempt to enforce it upon us, we would be left with no choice but to leave the UK, a nation we have been proud to call home for generations.

I call on the Government and the Department for Education to withdraw the parts of the Bill, that are infringing upon fundamental religious freedom, allowing us to freely practice our religion By doing so, you will send a powerful message that religious communities have a voice, a place, and a future in Britain

Thank you for giving your attention to this urgent and very important matter

Sincerely

DECLARATION ON THE DUTY OF THE CURRENT TIME To Save Our Future and the Future of Our Generations

From the Declaration

(Free Translation from Classical Hebrew Declaration)

We therefore call upon every member of our congregation to ensure that a unified and powerful voice is heard from us, one that will not falter in declaring, both privately and publicly, our resolve that our ways will not change. This declaration must resonate through the corridors of power, from the House of Ministers to Parliament,

asserting that our holy yeshivas and education system are the essence of our life. No power in the world will make us deviate even slightly from continuing the holy education and yeshivas in their sanctity and completeness as to date. Our education system’s success and impressiveness are well-known throughout the country.
