Other symptoms: cough, running nose, spots in inner mouth. A rash is usually a later sign of measles, seen after a few days.

DID YOU KNOW:
• If someone with measles is in a room, the virus will linger for 2 hours after they have left?
• Measles passes from person-to-person very quickly.
• If a woman has 2 doses of MMR in childhood, (protecting also against rubella and mumps,) in her teens or between pregnancies she has a better chance of a healthy baby.
• GPs are happy to give catch-up vaccinations to older children and adults who never received 2 doses of MMR.
• One in five children who catch measles need admitting to hospital, many with breathing difficulties.
