Why did you create ‘Frum London’ Our community needed a single entity that could provide all the relevant “frum” information without being affiliated to any particular organisation. There needed to be a site that covers ALL of the frum communities across the UK, Europe and Israel, and our site will help people and communities be more in contact with each other. We are a Community but have difficulty keeping in contact, and so there was a need to provide a frum Facebook, Twitter etc - Frumlondon addresses some of their purposes without being too addictive & personal.
Can you briefly describe what Frum London is about? frumlondon.co.uk is our community’s Yellow Pages, with free listings of all businesses that service our communities, not just the Kosher restaurants. Also, Frumlondon is a community website allowing members to post their Simchas and Classified ads, - all for free with Davening Times, Shiurim, a Community event Calendar, Special offers and Community Alerts. Within the website we cover all of London, including the suburbs, plus large sections on Manchester, Gateshead, Antwerp, Israel and all the main cities in Europe.
Frum London’ has had a makeover recently - what are the latest additions/changes? The look and feel has been updated; we have now placed the Simchas on the front page, allowing Google to quickly index and therefore provide the answer to a user’s search. Since we started the Frum London website
over 2 years ago, we have developed it into this state of the art website that covers everything & everywhere for the Frum person - All Shuls with their regular Davening times, Shiurim and Zmanim. Simcha listings, a community daily event calendar, Shiva times, classified section, Gemachim, Shomer Shabbos business directory, kosher restaurants & delis, butchers, bakers and special offers from local heimishe shops - the list is endless !
Is the site constantly monitored & maintained so that e.g the Davening times are kept up to date? Yes but we need the community (YOU) to constantly update us on any changes within the community, Davening and Shiurim details, Businesses and Services, Simchas and c’v Levayos and Shivahs. All shuls are carefully monitored on a regular basis including all United Synagogues, Federation & Sephardi Shuls & all Shtiebelech. We are proactively checking the site to ensure all our information is up to date and correct.
What plans have you got to take ‘Frum London’ forward? We aim to work on promoting the fact that we provide a vast amount of information covering the communities in Europe and Israel. As we increase our traffic (it is constantly increasing) we will launch our Bikur Cholim and Tehillim sections, plus we hope that our Jobs section will become invaluable. Our member’s Business ratings and Simcha messages will be added next year.
