Over the next few weeks until polling day, the economy will be front and centre of the general election campaign. ‘It’s the economy, stupid’ was reportedly US President Bill Clinton’s retort when asked what the key issue in an election is. If you want more money spent on the NHS, you need a strong economy. More help for pensioners, you need a strong economy. Childcare? Education? Jobs? A strong economy is essential; without one - there is no money. The UK economy has come a long way. When the coalition came into government in 2010, unemployment had rocketed. Labour left almost half a million more people unemployed than when they took office; meaning many families were looking to the future, scared and unsure of what was to come. Five years on, by working through our longterm economic plan and backing business with lower jobs taxes and better infrastructure, look at what we have achieved together: · 1.9 million more jobs - more people in work in our country than ever before. · More jobs created here than the rest of Europe combined. · More people with the security of a regular pay-packet, providing for themselves and their families. Over the last five years we have created 1,000 jobs a day and if we are re-elected we will keep on creating 1,000 jobs a day – 2 million more jobs in the next five years. The choice is simple: we go back to square one and the days of big unemployment, or we allow David Cameron and the team finish what we have begun. We are the jobs party – and over the next months, we will be fighting for every man and woman who wants to work, earn a wage and look after their family
– meaning thousands more jobs. This is a clear vote of confidence in this Government’s long-term economic plan with nine figure investments from companies as diverse as Honda, Jaguar Land Rover and the London Taxi Company. It means more cars coming off the production line, factories expanding and – most importantly - more people getting into work. This week saw 100 top businesses who, combined, employ half a million people say Cameron & Osborne’s economic plans are working. Those who create jobs are backing Cameron and his team. It shows that we need to stick the course and not throw it all away with Ed Miliband incompetently managing our economy. Meanwhile, Miliband’s team still doesn’t believe they overspent. Miliband’s team still say they would borrow more. They crashed the economy before and will do it again. They have said that they will increase taxes on business which could cost 96,400 jobs by whacking up corporation tax in their first budget. This would be the first time corporation tax has risen in over 40 years and it would put people’s economic security at risk. David Cameron and the team are helping businesses small and large as part of our longterm economic plan. By cutting taxes on jobs and investing in infrastructure there are 760,000 more businesses in our country with 1.9 million more people in work than in 2010. Now is the time to keep on working through that plan – not throw it all away with the economic chaos that would ensue. Every working household will face a £3,028 tax rise if Ed Miliband becomes Prime Minister – because he is unable to take difficult decisions on spending. The economy is recovering, we mustn’t go back to spend and borrow. David Cameron has what it takes. Let’s stick to the plan and fix the economy.

Going to Court A good solicitor will advise his client to try and avoid litigation at all costs. Litigation is stressful; litigation is expensive; litigation is uncertain. However there are some situations where going to court is unavoidable. At Wolfson and Co LLP our specialist property lawyers will go through your case with a fine tooth comb, check the strength of the evidence and advise on your chances of winning or successfully defending the claim. We recently had a case where we represented the landlord of a residential property. It was an assured shorthold tenancy. The landlord wished to regain possession of the property as he had a buyer. However, the tenant refused to leave. The landlord had no alternative but to go to the County Court and seek an order for possession. Unfortunately the landlord only had his part of the agreement; the part signed by the tenant was not available. However the latter is an essential document when you go to court seeking a possession order. There is an accelerated procedure in the County Court for a landlord to regain possession. This saves time and legal costs but, in order to use the accelerated procedure, the landlord must provide the court with all the essential documents. In this case the tenant’s part of the agreement was missing. We made a claim on behalf of the landlord and the tenant’s solicitor put in a defence on technical grounds including our failure to produce the tenant’s part of the agreement. Unsurprisingly the court was not prepared, in the first instance, to grant a possession order on the basis of the documents, as they were
defective. However, the court did list the case for a Directions Hearing and asked the landlord to provide certain information. We drafted a detailed witness statement explaining that there had been a proper agreement with two parts signed by the landlord and the tenant; we stated that it had been drawn up by an estate agent and we gave full details; we also explained how the the landlord had come to mislay the tenant’s part. The court was persuaded and did make a possession order. This was a successful outcome. However, not every judge is so obliging. Some judges are known to favour the tenant and this case could have been listed for a full hearing. This would mean attending court, bringing witnesses to give evidence and preparing written legal arguments. There could be the cost of lawyers on both sides and the risk of the losing party being ordered to pay his opponent’s legal costs. The outcome of litigation is always uncertain and litigation is always costly. All the while, the tenant will remain in occupation and the landlord could lose a serious purchaser. To add insult to injury, often the tenant is not even paying rent. The rule should always be to seek good legal advice as soon as a problem arises. Timely action at the outset can save the need for costly action later. Q: Our 15 Yr old is a changed personality from the delightful Bar Mitzvah boy of just 2 short years ago. He has become a sullen, bad tempered teenager who is very often rude and disrespectful. Any advice?
A:
First of all, know that this behaviour is normal. The hormones and enzymes that are racing around your son’s body, turning him into a man from a boy, are doing a wonderful job at the right time, but there are side effects! These side are effects are moodiness, a distancing from family members (whereas friends take priority now) and a strong urge to be independent. The key focus in parenting teens is for you not to turn into a teen yourself! So often I have parents presenting themselves to me tearing out their hair about their teen’s behaviour and regaling me with the arguments that happen on a daily basis. I often end up asking myself here “Who is the teen and who is the adult”? Parents who try to stand their ground forcefully and get drawn into battles LED by the teen, aggravate the situation and, worse than that, create even further distancing in the parentchild relationship. When parenting teens it is apriority to remember that YOU are the adult and not only do you need to display adult behaviour, your teen NEEDS you to. His world is racing around, he is trying to create his own value system, hormones are hindering him from staying in control of his own behaviour and when his parents lose it too, his whole world starts to crumble. The behaviour he needs from his parents now is firmness, consistency, encouragement, acceptance and love. Many times these are the last thing you feel like displaying to your teen because teens are very good at leading you into their angst! You need to remember “He is the teen, I am the parent; I need to maintain my ground and not allow his anxieties, temperament, emotion sway me away from being firm and loving.”
But, you may ask, how is this possible when this kid goads me (and his siblings) into arguments the minute he walks in through the front door and seems to have absolutely no consideration for anyone else? Well, the first thing to do is a paradigm shift: when you look at him, put on the glasses that will allow you to see through the angst and temper and see an emerging adult who will, in a few short years, bring you great nachas, reflecting your own family, moral and religious values. “Treat your child as if there were what they ought to be and help them to become what they are capable of being.” Keep your voice steady (even though there are screams around you), set clear boundaries and keep to them and encourage your child at every opportunity (yes he does do the right thing occasionally). And, crucially, respect him: respect his ideas, values, friends, priorities right now. This does not mean you agree with them – but don’t rubbish them either. Some teen behaviour can appear (and sometimes is) very extreme and you may wonder is this still normal? In this situation, the best thing is to speak to an expert: your doctor, a psychotherapist, counsellor, experienced teen educator. They will advise you as to whether you need to take further action. Sometimes extreme teen behaviour is not an outcome of internal physical and emotional turmoil but actually a direct kick-back from the reactions of adult behaviours that drive the teen further and further away. We all have a responsibility to develop positive strategies and steel ourselves to be the adult that our kids can rely on.

Problems That May Arise
My name is Tully Vorst. Ever since I was a little boy I was always interested in anything to do with wires, and although I don’t know how to play any musical instrument, I always loved music. When I went away to learn in Israel as a teenager I used to go out in the evening to the biggest wedding halls there and simply watch and listen as the sound engineers’ set up their systems. I became very friendly with them, they taught me a lot and commented that one day I will be working as a sound engineer and that I just ‘had it in me’ - they were right! After a while people realised that I knew what I was doing and they subsequently started allowing me to conduct small events. From then onwards I, BH, haven’t stopped growing. I took training, bought equipment and started hiring out my equipment too.
Some musicians have recently been having problems in ‘The Decorium’ hall. The hall has placed a volume limiter on its sound system and, since musicians do sometimes like to go over the volume limit, their whole system will, as a consequence, go bust. I have on my top speakers a volume limiter so that even if the musician does like to play very loudly, my speakers will prevent it from going over a certain limit, thereby preventing any misfortune at a wedding.
Being an electrician as well comes in handy since, if any wires or screens break down, I am able to fix them myself. There is life after debt, in fact it’s a pretty glorious life. Sadly for many people, feeling desperate and unsure where to turn because of the level of debt they have, that seems like a pipe dream Here are the 7 Steps to Breaking Free Step 1 - IMAGINE Get very clear on what you want and why you want it - not what you don’t want. Write out your ideal life, see it, feel, it get excited about it. Write it in the present tense and in the first person - “I am doing..., having..., creating..., experiencing”. This will start changing your focus toward the life you want and will help you create it. Start every day by reading this through, getting excited about it, adding to it and consciously change your focus from worrying about your debt to creating the life you want. Step 2 - BE PROUD Every night while you’re brushing your teeth before you go to bed ask yourself these five questions. What am I proud of in my life right now, in relation to my wealth and my money? What am I committed to in my life right now, in relation to my wealth and my money What am I excited about in my life right now, in relation to my wealth and my money? What am I grateful for in my life right now, in relation to my wealth and my money? Who do I love, and who loves me? Now here’s the deal. You can’t stop brushing until you have at least one answer in each category. Look at the bright side. Either you’re going to end up with the most amazingly sparkling clean teeth or you’re going to have discovered so many things that you’re really proud of and excited about and grateful for in your life right now. Hopefully it will be both. Really answer them fully and feel what you feel when you get your answer. If nothing clear pops into your mind, just keep asking the same question until something does, write these answers down in your journal and really start noticing how wealth starts expanding in your life. It’s about mastering your focus, so make sure you do it, even if it feels a bit woo-woo. Step 3 - DESTROY YOUR DEBT Put in place a simple debt destruction plan, commit to it and make it as automatic as possible. There are various debt
destruction strategies and you can get more guidance on the at www.thewealthchef.com . Step 4 - RELAX Relax, breath and know that by having a debt destruction plan in place and by your commitment to stick to it and destroy your debt, you can now focus on creating wealth. Step 5 - WEALTH FLOWS Learn about money, how it works, how it grows, and start looking at the way you have been managing it. Determine what your money flows have been in the past that got you where you are and with that understanding change your flows to wealth flows that enable money to stay in your life and grow. Step 6 - PAY YOUR SELF FIRST Start paying yourself first. What this means is start allowing money to stay in your life by starting both a saving and investing plan. One of the things I always get asked is, “shouldn’t I put all my money into clearing my debts first?” No, what you need to be doing is creating new money habits and you must create the habit of investing at the same time as destroying your debt. Energy flows where focus goes and if you only focus on your debt that is all you will know. Part of breaking a habit is replacing it with a new one and your new wealth habit is investing. The great thing about investing is you are still buying stuff except now you buy things that feed you not starve you. If we don’t do this you won’t break the debt habit. Even if you clear all your debt you are likely to go back into debt if you haven’t created a new investing habit. Step 7 - FOCUS With your money now being given great leadership by you, you focus on bringing more in and the more you focus on what you want in your life the more you will create it. What is Camp Gan Israel’s Mission statement? To provide both enjoyment and inspiration to children from diverse Jewish backgrounds and affiliations, through a stimulating camping experience with innovative ideas and creative activities in the setting of a healthy Jewish atmosphere. When was Camp Gan Israel (CGI) in Edgware established? Can you give us a bit of a background? CGI in Edgware was founded in 1989 as a project of Lubavitch of Edgware. It is a branch of the world-wide Camp Gan Israel network, the largest camping network in the world, with thousands of day camps and overnight camps in more than forty countries. The network was founded by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1956 in a call to provide an enjoyable Jewish educational environment for children. How many children attend CGI-Edgware? When it started 26 years ago a handful of lucky children became the first CGI campers in the Lubavitch Centre in Edgware, but as our reputation grew we had to find rented premises to comfortably accommodate the number of campers. Numbers went up and down over the years depending on facilities available. When the current directors, Rabbi and Mrs Yaron Jacobs, took over in 2009, the camp attracted 175 children. Last year, 2014, we catered for an astounding 430 happy campers from all over Edgware, Hendon, Golders Green and surrounding areas. How did you earn such a good reputation? Our well earned reputation comes from our innovative ideas in all areas: trips, sports, arts & crafts etc. Our special activities for older campers are specifically appreciated including late night barbeques and shabbatons.
