FROM THE

"Elections elections elections! That's what were preparing for here at NWCTA. Since we've had some changing around, this year and the rest of the semester will be all about preparing for next year. We've been doing well so far and with preparation, next year will be fantastic!!! Next month well know our new board, be planning our induction banquet, and starting preparing for summer volunteering."

FROM

THE

Editor

Happy New Year Hawks! I hope everyone had an amazing break! With elections this month, it reminds me there is only TWO more months of my term. Let’s make it worthwhile okay! I’d like to thank everyone who sends in articles continuously. It’s a struggle trying to create a newsletter with no articles! So thank you, thank you, thank you! As you can tell, this issue is not as long as others, but it still holds precious words from your fellow members. I hope we all continue to grow as a family as the year progresses. Let’s bring our service hours up, and smiles brighter! ♡

Magical Forest DIARRA MORGAN | SECRETARY “Magical Forest was really fun! It was cool getting to see all the families coming out and enjoying themselves before

Christmas. If I had to pick a favorite part, it would have to be when all the members from our club got together and took a picture in front of the giant Christmas tree because it felt like we were a family. I can't wait to volunteer there again and experience the joy it brings!”

“Volunteering at Magical Forest was nothing like I expected.

Las Vegas. It consists of a light spectacular and various forms of entertainment for the community.

Originally, I thought I was going to help by passing out flyers or be a cashier of some sort. It was until one of the coordinators of Magical Forest approached another member of our club and I and asked us if we’d like to wear a costume for the kids. Of course this seemed like an odd position but I actually loved this job. I was able to watch kids smile just because I simply waved at them. In some cases, a couple of the kids hugged me. The experience I had at Magical Forest really inspired me. I was able to see the innocence and curiosity in children. Of course a couple of kids cried because they probably thought me to be a ferocious beast. However, I was still shocked to witness how a child is so kind to even a stranger in a reindeer costume. I certainly look forward to volunteering at Magical Forest again to help raise money for research for cures but to be a stranger that brings happiness to everyone at the event, similar to how those kids made me happy.”

New Year, New Goals! AEJAE NAVAL | SAA "For 2015, my New Year’s resolution is that I’m hoping to win a position as Vice President or Senior Representative for Northwest Key Club’s board! I’m especially fond of this idea of taking a higher position for Key Club and helping the club out in anyway I can. Another resolution is to be a part of a lot more Key Club events. For example, I’m hoping to attend a lot more DCMs and socials. I’m really happy when I get to talk to people and this way, I can meet a whole more of people from different schools!"

SHEILA BIBERA | FRESHMAN MEMBER "My New Years resolution for 2015 is to have all my assignments done as soon as their assigned, and not procrastinate! Yes, freshman year has been not too much of a hassle, but I am the kind of person who likes to do their homework the day before it's due. Another one I have is to try my best to go to as many events that I possibly can for key club this year!"

KAREN JENSEN | JUNIOR REP "My New Years resolution is to be president or at least vice president, and bring back up what key club used to be my freshmen year. I've been through key club thick and thin, every Key Club meeting, and if I wasn't there I would be doing something for it. For 3 years straight all I have ever wanted to do was become a leader, and I learned a lot through my experiences of being just a dedicated member and then a rep, but I want to go all the way and pursue this ambition!!!"

NOELLE MASANGKAY | JUNIOR MEMBER "My New Years resolution is to talk to more people. As I approach my senior year, I realized that I want to make the best the remainder of my high school years. Don't get me wrong, my friends are great, but I can't be afraid to talk to other people. In addition, key club will be even more fun if I socialize with more people, as inclusiveness is one of the core values of this key club. I believe that we are a family and it should continue being that way.
