Happy summer, Hawks! I hope you are all having a fantastic time. Do your best to stay as cool as possible, as it is starting to get HOT out there! Turn on post notifications on our Twitter and Instagram page to never miss posts about service events, sign-ups, and updates. Continue to serve this summer; get outside of the house, meet new people, and give back to your community! Hello everyone! Hopefully summer is treating everyone well and good. We’ve been hard at work keeping up with tasks, responsibilities, etc, and hopefully all of you have too with service! If not, you will be able to get plenty of service done in the next few weeks with the fireworks booth as well as Days for Girls! You can also find other volunteer opportunities all around the valley if you can’t make it to these. I can’t help but stress the importance of service as it’s what key club really is about, giving back to your community. It might not seem as fun when compared to a party, but if you can get your group of friends to go volunteering it becomes more than a chore or service. It becomes a bonding experience of sorts. Other then that, I hope everyone enjoys their summer break and to remember, service is out there!

COUN

The June DCM was a lot of fun to attend! It was held with all other divisions of 28 so there were a lot of activities going on, making it a great opportunity to meet new people! Our club was awarded club of the month thanks to the outstanding efforts of our new board, especially Angelique and Ingrid! –Adrian Sayas

MEET /

Little known fact, this is the first ever DCM I’ve ever been to. It was a joint DCM where all the divisions in Region 5 came to discuss. After engaging in a division meeting, we broke off into round robin stations after being numbered off. I started with a workshop for the Key Club preferred charities, which are: Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes, UNICEF, and the Pediatric Trauma Program. Next we made dog toys out of shirts by braiding them together. Although there was a third station that involved planting, they unfortunately ran out of supplies. It’s okay though, because I had more time to create dog toys! Overall, this DCM was a blast because not only were there fun activities, I got to meet new people from other divisions. –Angelo Masangkay

TING

This past Friday, the June DCM was held at Valley High School. On this occasion, it was a joint DCM with other divisions which was great because there were so many new people to meet! During the DCM we went over the Governor’s project as well as the preferred charities. After the informative presentation, we all did community service in the form of making dog toys and planting seeds. Overall, I learned more about Key Club and it was pretty fun! I want to encourage people who can go to DCMs to attend. You gain information about what’s happening in other clubs, your own club and you become a more involved member of Key Club. –Ingrid Perez
