president

Summer is upon us! This does not mean Key Club, and subsequently service, has to stop! At the end of this month, I will BEE heading out to International Convention (ICON) to elect the international board, represent our club on a global level, and train even more on serving as president! You can look forward to the fireworks booth with our sponsoring Kiwanians in the Fourth of July season, but if you can’t make it out to that, we also have our upcoming RTC Prep Social in late July (we’ll have more information on that as soon as it approaches). Other service opportunities we have planned is that Kiwanian DCON in August as well as NWCTA Freshman Orientation. As always, be on the lookout for more information on our social media! I hope everyone has a great summer!

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve changed up the design for the newsletter! I wanted to try something new for the summer. Remember, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you can’t do service! Be on the lookout for service events that our club can attend. I hope you all enjoy your summer!

MAY DCM

Brianna Abagat DIVISION 28 WEST SECRETARY

I'm so excited to be Division 28 West's secretary for the 2016-2017 term! This is such an amazing opportunity and I am thankful that I get to be a part of the Division Leadership Team. I look forward to becoming even more involved with Key Club, and making new friends. I plan to focus on making new contacts with people from different schools within D28W and helping out each club's secretary in any way that I can. I am so honored to be serving as the division secretary and I cannot wait to see what this term has in store.

ANGEL FACE

Alexandria Fuzzard | Senior Representative

It was super fun working with our supporting Kiwanis Club in their Angel Face volunteer project! I learned how to garden, put in hard work, and got to know people from not only NWCTA's Key Club, but people from other schools and not to mention, the awesome Kiwanians! I shoved rocks, moved heavy wheelbarrows, planted flowers, and planted food for the community. To be honest, I thought I was going to die because the rocks were so heavy and I'm so weak, but I did it, surprisingly!

W Illuminated Memories

end of the year banquet

Gianna Coloma | Junior Representative/Banquet Chair

The end of the year banquet definitely illuminated many of the memories I have seen our club make together. I enjoyed seeing all the happy and smiling faces that came, but seeing seniors start to tear up was something that hit me. Their smiles and tears let me know that banquet committee's hard work payed off. As one of the chairs for this banquet, I can tell you it was not easy. There were many bumps in planning this out. It was very stressful and a lot of pressure to make this a great banquet, however the committee did an amazing job in the end. So, I would like to thank everyone on banquet committee for their hard work and time, the banquet would not have been as wonderful without all of you. I hope there are more banquets to come and more memories to make!

Michelle Martinez | Sophomore Member The End of the Year Key Club Banquet was AMAZING! I really enjoyed being able to connect with the key club members and the spending time with my fantastic friends. Key Club has given me the opportunity to make new friends and they have become such a huge part in my life now. This banquet let me hang out with them for the last time in a key club event and I was so glad I came. The event let us reminisce the memories we had in the club throughout the school year including the events, banquets, and the meetings. Key Club is amazing and you not only get to benefit others, but yourself as well.

Class of 2016

from the

senior farewells

Rea Sayas

I breathed Key Club. I ate Key Club. I slept Key Club. My whole high school experience was Key Club, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Key Club allowed me to meet some of my very best friends, have amazing experiences/memories, and I even improve myself. From being a shy, awkward freshman, to being the (still) awkward, loud, leading graduating senior, I can honestly say thank you to this organization and the people in it, and I'm so proud to be wearing a Key Club cord at graduation. I can't guarantee that everyone will have the experience I had, but it only is what you make it; ergo, I'm glad I was able to make the best out of my four years in this organization.

Melanie Garcia

Honestly, I never thought I would stay in Key Club mainly because I didn't know anyone and was afraid of looking like a fool. But, once I started going to events, I got to meet people that would become close friends in later years and I wouldn't have had as lit of an experience without them. I'm thankful for all the people I've met through this club because they've changed me for the better and I'm truly thankful for them, but also sad I have to say goodbye. So, for the last time, goodbye NWCTA Key Club. It's been fun. ♼

Aejae Naval

Weirdly enough, I went to my first key club event when I was in 7th grade. My sister invited me to hang out with kids from her Key Club and it seemed like it was an opportunity to make friends. But Key Club became so much more than that. It was more about helping the community while finding myself. Freshman year, I despised everyone. I was a recluse. But Key Club encouraged me to become more inclusive and help others. I opened up a little bit more and I realized I loved seeing people happy. I liked talking to people and making their day a little bit better. Northwest Key Club is absolutely extraordinary. I am so proud that I spent my 4 years of high school growing with Key Club and I won't ever forget my Key Club experience. Thank you for everything.

Thank you for the memories you have given me; meeting new people and having the best and most amazing friends I could have asked for. Thank you to each volunteer and leadership opportunity I have experienced. Key Club International, thank you for being a part of all my four years in high school.
