From the Editor Hey Hawks! Unfortunately, this is my last newsletter serving as your Bulletin Editor. After DCON in April, the new board (introduced on pages 8-13) will take over! With the new term, I will be serving as your Vice President, and my Bulletin Editor position will be passed on to my elect, Vincent Fresco! With this being my final Editor’s Message, I just wanted to say that this term has been absolutely incredible. From becoming family with you all since our first meeting of the school year, to winning the Division 28 West Spirit Stick at RTC, you guys have shown me a tremendous amount of love that I would have never expected to receive. The dedication and commitment you’ve maintained throughout this year has made me truly blessed to have a club like you guys. Thank you for making this term memorable. Thank you for giving me the honor to serve as your Bulletin Editor. Thank you for being the reason I serve. Now, let’s finish this school year on a good note with Relay and our spectacular End of the Year Banquet ahead of us! See you in the next term!

Jana Alindog | Senior

LVDM17 was one for the books! I remember my freshman year was the first ever Dance Marathon for CMN. Very little clubs were involved because it was new, but now so many schools look forward to this event every year. It was amazing to have seen DM go from 100-300 participants to almost over 1000 people! Not only that, but the amount of donations that’s being raised is astonishing! DM is the place to be yourself and meet new people. What I loved best about DM was the nonstop dancing, the performers, the open mic, and hearing these kids’ stories. We danced for them because they are not able to, and seeing them smile because of it is so heartwarming and pushes myself, and hopefully others, to give back to the community. Thank you NWCTA Key Club for showing me a good time at DM. Also, congrats to NWCTA Hip Hop Club for killing it on stage! I am immensely proud for how much that club has improved! If you ever just want to have a day out with friends and vibe together, then I highly recommend attending Dance Marathon; you're giving back and throwing it back all at the same time!

Kevin Wu | Freshman

My experience at Dance Marathon was great! I met new people and also got to socialize with my friends that went. The performances were awesome and dance battles were fun to watch. I believe that it was planned out perfectly and would love to attend Dance Marathon again next year!

Gianna Coloma | Junior Representative

Although I have been in Key Club for 3 years, this was my first year going to Dance Marathon. I regret not going in the previous years because this is such an amazing event that does amazing things for children. I got to meet new people, see how many talented dancers there are in our community, and hear the stories of the children who have gone through so much and how important this event truly is. I cannot wait for next year's Dance Marathon and I hope more of our members go to experience the event for themselves!

Northwest CTA Key Club Board for the 2017-2018 school year

Hey everyone! My name is Kayla DeSoto and I'm your new Key Club President.

Kayla DeSoto president

I hope you are as excited for the new term and the new board as I am! Being in Key Club has had such a positive impact on my life and I can't wait to give back during this new term. In this new term, I plan on having more fundraisers, more service events, and be more inclusive! We are a family like no other and need to be there for each other. I hope to make you all proud and guide you through your Key Club journey.

Hello my fellow moons! I’m Jayden Curameng and I will be your Vice President for the next term. Serving as general Vice President, working closely with the President and fellow VP's of Service and Fundraising, I will make Key Club my top priority and make the next term the best one yet! I hope to bring happiness to both our new and returning members, and start the spark of the incoming freshmen's Key Club journey. I hope to make my mark on this club by influencing the lives of our members to keep the dedication of Northwest CTA Key Club going after I graduate in 2018!

Jayden Curameng vice president

Hey Hawks! It's your VP of Service Andrea Alcala here and I am beyond excited for this term and what I have planned for this year!

Andrea Alcala vice president of service

Key Club is a big passion of mine and it is an honor to be serving alongside on the board that I now consider my second family. My first action of duty is finding a service event that we as a club can attend right when the term starts and also plan a social along with the social committee! I know with my hard work and dedication (and all the member's help of course) I will be able to accomplish the goals I have for this awesome upcoming year! I just can't wait to provide you all memorable events and get even closer than ever with you guys! I love y'all so much and thank you again for this opportunity of a lifetime!

I'm Sheila Bibera, and I cannot wait to serve as your Vice President of Fundraising! This year as general VP I learned many things; however, I didn't check of all my goals I wanted to on my list. As your VP of Fundraising, I will make sure that not only are we active in doing fundraisers, but I will make sure our members who want to go to big events such as RTC, FRS, and DCON are able to go. If members participate in our fundraisers, they can not only pay off their fees, but it can also help them lower the price for our different events. Not only will some of the fundraisers help our members individually, but we can also have fundraisers that benefit our club. Working alongside with the treasurer, will be such a great experience for this new term. Fundraising does not stop at one point, there are endless possibilities of what we as a club can do. Not only are these options we make as a board, but you as members can also tell us what you'd like to see for the club as well. Your 2017-2018 board will make sure that you have a great time. And I, your VP of Fundraising will make sure we as a club and as individuals our raising money on a whole other level.

Hi, I'm Anjella Manucat and I will be your Secretary for the 2017-2018 school year! I am very excited to be part of this amazing family. When I first ran I was very nervous about the position. I didn't want to get up in front of everyone and say my speech. Now I am very eager for the term to start and to lead the members to their new term. My goal is to make the meetings more organized and for Key Club to become more whole. I can't wait to work with all of board to make this year the best it can be.

Anjella Manucat secretary

Hello Northwest Key Clubbers! My name is Keiki and I’m your elected Treasurer for the 2017-2018 school year!

Keikilani Rogel treasurer

I am so thankful for this position and I can't wait for this upcoming year with you all. As your treasurer, my goal for this term is to definitely keep track of all finances and keep a financial book to present to board monthly. With all of us on track with budget we will be able to plan socials, fundraisers, banquets, and more for you guys! My goal as treasurer is to also work with Sheila (your VP of fundraising elect) to have at least one fundraiser a quarter. With that, we will be able to do more within our club and help outside our community as well. Lastly, as treasurer my goal is to also donate more to different organizations monthly! Thank you and I can't wait for this upcoming term!

I'm Vincent Fresco and I'll be looking forward to making memories with everyone and being your 2017-2018 Bulletin Editor! Being elected as bulletin editor was amazing, being able to serve my community and be able to help serve my club and make great layouts and different types of visuals to make our club look great! Key club is a club I love and it has a spot in my heart! It continues to grow and grow and with this position I can keep for everyone and myself a bunch of photos to look back at memories or events of Key Club. I'm happy to be documenting events with visuals and also document our members’ experiences and love for Key Club.

This is an opportunity for me to bring the sophomores together, because I notice how my class has the potential to create a strong bond with one another and we all treat each other as one family. I want to get even closer with my class, and be involved with them with different projects during the upcoming term. I know I'm only a freshman going on sophomore, but I have a special place in my heart for Key Club and I want to be able to do what I love with the people that make me so happy! Sergeant-at-arms Hi, I’m Malachi White and I am one of your 2017-2018 SAA’s! My goal as your SAA is for everyone to become closer not as club members but as a family. As your SAA, I want to hear all your ideas about cheers and even about your day. It is my goal to find and make amazing ice breakers so that you have can an amazing Key Club experience. Not everyone in Key Club knows each other, so I’m going it my goal so that everyone know each other so that we can be a KEY CLUB FAMILY.

Aneka Castillo

Malachi White

I’m Aneka Castillo, and I’m very excited to serve as an SAA this coming term! There is literally no way to describe how proud I am to be a part of this community I call family. Key Club has truly found a permanent home in my heart. I couldn’t be more glad to be given such a huge opportunity. Soon, I can be found getting "lit”, and striking the fires that have yet to burn in these eternal bonds. I was once asked what I’d do to make sure members kept coming to meetings after RTC. In short, I told them what I knew to be true. I explained that as one of the main Key Club-centered events, it’s not hard to become “hooked” afterwards. If otherwise, I let my brothers and sisters in service know my solution. I spoke loud and clear when I said I’d always be there to take their hand when they reach out and to reach out when they need a hand to take. I may be loud, but I’m always there to listen. I understand the magnitude of our club, but I really will make an effort to know all I can and do all I can. I’m glad I have the chance to help make our members’ experiences amazing and unforgettable. Right now, I’m just counting the days down because I really can’t wait to see what the future holds.

My name is Caleb and I am one of your 2017-2018 SAA’s! As SAA, my main goal would be to win RTC and Fall Rally, and also bring Key Club closer together as a family. I will do this is by making each Key Clubber feel a part of the cheer making process by letting them give ideas and I will also make more fun icebreakers that makes everyone feel more comfortable together. I will also have way more cheer practice to ensure Caleb victories at Fall Rally and RTC.
