'Tis the spooky season hawks! Our favorite month filled with jam packed events are here! Northwest Key Club began their month with a spooky DCM. A special thank you to our DCM committee for working so hard to give Division 28 West moons a spook-tacular. For the rest of the month services ranging from walks to Haunted Harvest at Springs Preserve is a go! This gives many of our members a better look into serving our community and gaining the 30 hours of service per semester that is required to be an active member. Aside from service, one of the most anticipated Key Club events is upon us this month... Regional Training Conference! This year’s theme is mythology and Northwest was assigned the god Artemis. As these hawks are practicing our spirit, we are also ready to meet new friends from our Region through spirit battles and workshops. I can't wait to see the club I serve bring all their spirit!

Hey Hawks! As we now enter this SPOOKTACULAR Month, we will be looking forward to more memories within the club! With a bunch of service events towards the end of the month along with RTC in play, our club is in for a good one! I’ll be happy to document everything within pictures and your articles along the way! I look forward to everyone’s spirit towards RTC and I hope to bring back another Win to our school as we all soar high!

Neil Bongolan / Chair The Lucky Duck service event was a great event for everyone to attend as we got to socialize and volunteer to set up along with have the ducks sailing in the pond! The experience was fantastic as we could help everyone that was there for the great cause. I hosted a booth and make it fun for everyone including our own volunteers and attendees. It was all composed together as it was fun for everyone socially and an experience that was unforgettable.

Adrian Sayas / General Member Lucky duck was an overall great experience. What I did for the most part was help setup and cleanup. Although there wasn't much for me to do during the event, I still got to socialize with people that I had never met before as well as have fun with my friends!

FACES Kassay Glass / General Member I’ve had the opportunity of volunteering at Angel Faces/New Vista Ranch a couple times a year since my freshman year and each time we volunteer here, I look forward to seeing the passion Rhonda has for this garden. Angel Faces helps tend the garden for the residents of New Vista Ranch, who are all intellectually disabled, so they can use the garden in a therapeutic way. This most recent time we sifted composted, cleaned the plant beds, and cleared the land to help prepare for a festival that will be held there on October 21!

Dylan Villones / General Member Angel Faces was a pretty good event as a volunteer. Personally, it felt good to be able to garden and do good for the community. I think the garden turned out fantastic for the residents of the ranch, and I would love to do some more volunteering for them as it was just a great experience. It was fun to socialize and learn along the way about gardening, for me it was peaceful and therapeutic as I’m able to help in such a great cause.

Alana Domingo / General Member This year Key Club’s DCM for October was held here at North West CTA. DCM stands for district council meeting; here we were given the ability to meet up with all, if not most, of the other key clubs within our district. Weeks before the meeting had taken place, DCM committee was given the job of setting up and decorating the area where the meeting was held; we designed, cut, pasted and hung things from posters to lights to even pumpkins and bats. I personally took part in designing posters, painting decorations, hanging up lights, setting up tables and other little things as the meeting grew closer and closer. When DCM finally arrived we the meeting we started off with the pledges, then continued by participating in ice breakers and games followed by discussing news, fundraisers, and many other things. Aside from all the that, this committee gave us a chance to do more than just work; during our DCM committee meetings held on Mondays, we were able to meet new people, learn more about each other and really be who we truly are with the members of this committee. Being part of committee as well has attending the meeting as a whole, I feel was a really good experience for me overall, I definitely want to take part of committee again next year as well as the years to follow.

The October DCM was a Spooktacular success! The committee and I spent days on making decorations to ensure it looks BOO-tiful! With long hours of painting, planning, but lots of laughs, the dcm wasn't one to forget. I was so happy some of the freshman got to attend and learn more about key club, the fact that they were so excited to put the event together and be there at the dcm made my key club heart sing. It was also nice to see my friends from centennial key club and the dcm truly was an overall positive environment.
