FROM

President THE "I am SO PROUD of how far our club has come. Not only have we redeemed ourselves but the underclassmen's effort and excitement and motivation for Key Club and for growing the club give me so much faith in the future of NWCTA KC. I truly believe we are a family and this month, we showed that to everyone. RTC this year for me was the best of my four and I know the rest of this year will be the same. All I can say is thank you."

Region Training Conference 2015

Aejae Naval | Senior Rep "RTC was breathtaking and the memories I made at RTC will forever be etched into my mind. We were able to learn so much about RTC and how the information we learned could benefit not only the club, but ourselves as well! I’m so thankful to be in a club that puts their

heart and soul in everything they do. We didn’t need to win the spirit competition to have a great time. Of course it would have been great to win, but I’m proud with what our club brought to the table. It pains me to know that I probably won’t have the experience I received at this RTC ever again but I’m elated to know that Key Club has transformed me as a person. I have definitely blossomed because of my RTC experience and I’m hoping to make my senior year as just as unforgettable this year!"

Keona Tayam | Freshman Member "My love for Key Club after Region Training Conference went from 50 to 100 really quick. RTC was really one of the best experience of

my life - ever! After that night, I was so sad it was over that I even had dreams about it!"

Sheila Bibera | Sophomore Member "Region Training Conference was a memorable event. It was my second time around. I was really happy because I got to make friends in our own group, and some friends from other schools. I also learned many things from the workshops which can help me out of key club. RTC is one of the events that I love to kick off the year with, so overall the day was amazing.

"This year's RTC was different compared to other years, but it was definitely one of my favorites. The main difference between this year and previous years is that we were able to pick which workshop we wanted to attend. Before, we were in the gym for several hours with hundreds of people, so it was harder to pay attention to the speaker. This year, the workshops took place in a classroom with only about 30 people, so not only did we become closer to the speaker, but we were able to become close to members from other clubs as well. Almost every workshop had an icebreaker so meeting new people was inevitable. I feel, however, that the best moments came from within our club. At the beginning of RTC, everybody was kind of in their own little clique, but as we reached the spirit session, we were all holding onto each other. Although I am heartbroken that it was my last RTC, I wouldn't have spent it any other way."

Moira Vasquez | Senior Member "RTC was always one of the biggest things I looked forward to in the beginning of the school year, and on October 3, 2015, I attended my final one. Quite admittedly, it was one of the best out of my four years as a Key Club member. The format was completely different from past years, and because of that, I was able to attend workshops that were more interactive and more specific to one idea. Honestly, I learned so much that my head started to hurt from the amount of new knowledge! The spirit competition that followed made me an

emotional wreck, especially when it was announced that NWCTA made it into the Top 6. Although we didn't go any further, I still felt incredibly proud of my club and what we accomplished together, especially in the midst of a messy time crunch. I’m more than satisfied with my last RTC, and I’m glad I was able to experience it with good

vibes, lost voices, AND LOTS OF SPIRIT!"

The bulk of RTC does not start the day it is held. It starts the day the club starts to prep. RTC would not be as amazing without the memories made with other Key Club members during recruitment, cheer practice, and gear preparation. One of my favorite prep days was when the upperclassmen broke into old RTC Key Club cheers and taught the underclassmen. It was nostalgic, but it brought out new enthusiasm from underclassmen members. The day of the event, I really enjoyed the full package of workshops and meals along with the dance and spirit competition! In one of the workshops, it was surprising to find out that the majority of the people were new Key Club members, so they did not recognize the throw-back cheer, "Boom Chicka Boom". As a result, a friend of mine and myself took on a little leadership role to teach the cheer. With this year's RTC being my last, I would like to thank everyone that made this event amazing! For those with more high school years to look forward to, RTC is a must!
