Wow. That’s it. My final Regional Training Conference. I could not be happier. Maybe I did not take enough pictures but I have enough memories that can last me a lifetime. There’s no amount of words that I could possibly type that would encapsulate how I truly feel right now. As President, seeing the members that I have served so far last Saturday was absolutely breathtaking. From every other presenter I heard nothing but good words. Watching every single member give it their all and exemplify our core values in just spirit alone is a feeling that’s ineffable. To that first meeting where a lot of them did not know what RTC was, to seeing them shout the “How Do You Feel” cheer at the top of their lungs, that kind of growth that I managed to witness and be responsible for is absolutely amazing. As bittersweet as it was, I am overwhelmed with joy knowing that the board and I managed to create so many Key Club Moments especially by taking home that spirit stick. Thank you.

With so many service opportunities heading our way, get ready for some eventfilled newsletters! I'm so excited to see all of our members participate in service events over the weekends. At this rate, I bet you all will have your hours done by January! Also, please keep in mind that after RTC, the fun doesn't stop! There's plenty of exciting Key Club events to attend as the year goes by, I promise. From being Top 3 my freshman year, then Top 6 my sophomore year, and now winning the Division Spirit Stick my junior year, no words can describe how much winning meant to me. I’m so honored to serve as the Bulletin Editor of this club, you guys put in so much hard work and dedication to get our club where it is today, and I’m overjoyed to say Northwest CTA finally took the D28W Spirit Stick home.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE from the
vice president president
I am so happy I can serve a club like you guys. I want to grow a better bond with every one of you. I want to make sure this club stays the way it was at RTC, where we are together united as one. Where the positivity is spread. I may not know all of you by your names, just yet, but just know I love you so much. RTC changed my perspective for our club. WE CAN KEEP STRIVING. NWCTA Key Club will be better than ever, I really hope all of you stay because there's so much more to come. With all the bonds we made, whether it be during workshops, cheers, or at the dance, I saw how fun each and every one of you guys had together. The bonds within the classes itself spoke for it. I just want to say without your hard work at preps or digging "Practice your cheers" into your head every time, we wouldn't have been where we were at RTC. I'm so proud of you guys. That spirit stick is back where it belongs after four years! Love you all and to the future, we will keep going!

[alzheimer’s] walk to end
Sheila Bibera | Event Chair Chairing the very first major event for our club was amazing! Walk to End Alzheimer's is an event where people walk for those who have passed, had, know, or is supporting someone with Alzheimer's. Having Alzheimer's is very hard, I personally knew someone who had Alzheimer's and passed away. This is my second year going to this event, and my first time chairing it. I always thought chairing such a big event would be stressful; however, it wasn't. Cheering on all the people who were walking was amazing. I won't ever forget the smiles people had on their faces as they walked and the high fives they gave. As people walk, I heard people saying "thank you", and it was heart-warming because not only do I realize I am serve my community, but I also managed to help people continue live their life. Cheering them on was my favorite thing to do, not only did it hype up the crowd who walked but it was such a great thing to do. Cheering people on is great in any situation, and I felt that as we cheered for the people, they were motivated and happy that people were there for them. Seeing the club as a whole as well made me happy as the chair for this event. I got to see our club come together as one and everyone's enthusiasm to keep these people going. Seeing the club together and being able to communicate to different people in the club was wonderful too, I know for sure some of you made new friends! This is one way to start off the year with this amazing walk and hopefully next year's will just be as great too!

Chloe Tabayoyong | Freshman My experience with the Alzheimer's Walk was a blast! I got to make a difference in my community and support those families who have lost their relatives through Alzheimer's. I hope we get more opportunities to go to these projects!
Araya Fernandez | Freshman Being able to be a part of something like Alzheimer's Walk is the kinds of things I love and live for. I really enjoyed being able to cheer on others as they walked. Every time someone smiled at me or gave me a high five, I couldn't help but smile and think, "even the smallest act of kindness can make someone's day". Spending time with others and making new friends at events like this complete my life and I wish it never ended. I feel like if more people come throughout the years, they will see how fun and important things like that are. It is amazing how much a little bit of something can make such a big impact on your life and on other’s lives.
RTC 2016

[region training conference] Stephanie Verdel | Junior This was my first RTC experience and it was much more than I expected. Getting to meet new people from different schools, learn about the different charities and fundraisers I could help in, and of course, getting to cheer with all of my friends was very memorable. My favorite part was cheering in the hallways as we traveled to our next classes and doing spirits battles along the way. Even though the year has just begun, and there are many more events and plans coming soon, I know that I will enjoy being a part of Key Club.
Bea Velandria | Sophomore October 15, 2016, first time ever going to RTC with the Key Club family. I've never been so overwhelmed with so many types of emotions, where we're screaming out how we feel to crying our eyes out because of winning our division's spirit stick. Having made it into the top 3 was so amazing but winning the division spirit stick had EVERYONE crying out loud. 12 hours of screaming our hearts out was totally worth it. Don't forget the spirit battles, we showed them up. Can they drop it like we do? I think not. Once again, I want to thank everyone who participated in making my very first RTC such a great one, it wouldn't have been amazing if it wasn't for NWCTA'S KC and all the Key Clubs that competed. I guess you could say that everything was my Key Club Moment. Looking forward to making so many more memories with you guys.

Elaine Lonborg | Sophomore RTC was an amazing experience that I'll never forget! It was my first time going and I had a blast. The workshops were awesome. I got to meet a lot of new people in them. My favorite one was where we made dog toys. Although I don't have a dog, it'll certainly come in handy for the future! I was very nervous for the spirit cheers. Northwest competed against a lot of schools with amazing cheers. After moments of waiting outside to see who won the division spirit stick, they finally said "Division 28 West: Northwest CTA!" I immediately started screaming and crying. It was the greatest feeling in the world — all of our hard work paid off! I got to BEE there with all of my friends and my second family. I love Key Club and I will definitely be going to RTC again.
Janae Thomas | Junior My first RTC experience was so much better than expected. I was able to socialize with people from northwest in all different grades that I would probably never really have the chance to do regularly at school. Also, I was even able to talk and meet new people from different schools which is awesome too. It was great to do our cheers that the club has been working hard on, and actually do so great and be so loud that we won for our division. I could not have asked for a better time. I wish I there was a rewind button so I can do it all over again.

Kait Castillo | Senior I am so proud to be part of NWCTA's Key Club. Key Club has been such an integral part of my high school career and I can't express how much RTC had contributed to this experience. Having gone from being disqualified my freshman year to winning the division in senior year, NW Key Club is on the come up. :-) The club has become so spirited, so integrated, and so enthusiastic since then. We can only get better from here and bring the spirit sticks back in years to come! I want to thank Victor, Sheila, Jayden, the rest of the board, and all the members for making RTC so memorable for me! I know some of you guys got D-O-W-N ;-) and really, really showed what KC spirit is all about. The members of this club are all the perfect example of Key Club, community service, spirit, and dedication. I couldn't have asked for a better club. Thank you for making and starting off my senior year as the best one yet!

Jeramie Ayala | Senior RTC is a memorable experience where key clubbers can learn about Key Club, meet new people, and enjoy showing spirit for your club. This year, NWCTA won the division spirit stick in d28w for the first time in 4 years! As a senior, it really makes me happy to win for my last year. So proud for our school and everyone who participated!
Jana Alindog | Senior RTC 2016 was by far the best one I have ever attended. I really advise new members and old members to attend this event in the future because it’s an unforgettable experience where you’re able to create a stronger bond between your club and other key club members from each of the divisions. WE ALSO TOOK THE SPIRIT STICK BACK HOME WHERE IT BELONGS! Key Club has been such a huge part of my life ever since freshman year, and it’s bittersweet to say that this was my last RTC. From the workshops, cheering, spirit battles, dance (hehe), and the non-stop dedication, I have never been so proud of our club. Because of RTC, I’ve grown to fall more in love with Key Club and the idea of helping my community.

serving on the 65
division leadership team
by the division secretary
Serving on the Division Leadership Team is an amazing opportunity and experience and I am honored to be serving D28W as the division secretary. Each month I look forward to learning what the clubs have been up to and their plans for the future. Nothing makes me happier than seeing everyone become more active and finding their Key Club moment. I saw RTC from a workshop presenter and a judge's point of view. It was my first time hosting a workshop and I was extremely nervous, but everyone made me feel at ease. I had a great time! I loved meeting new people as well as creating new bonds! From a judge’s point of view, I saw RTC as a whole other experience. I loved seeing all the clubs cheer their hearts out and being supportive of each other. As a judge, it was extremely tough to pick who would qualify, each club did a phenomenal job and I couldn’t be more proud. On behalf of the DLT, we would like to say thank you to everyone for making this RTC a great one and we appreciate all of your hard work and dedication!
