DIMENSIONS • The Business Manager will work on and manage a range of diverse projects and will work very closely with the Business Development Managers. •
Working within a team environment, to manage a portfolio of investment projects – including both enquiry handling and client servicing. These are undertaken against a very competitive environment both within the UK and internationally.

An awareness and sensitivity to political/cultural issues when dealing with investment projects is required.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Secure investment projects in to the region against delegated targets for individuals/the team, according to the RES •
Develop and maintain a credible knowledge of key business drivers, the region and inward investment processes (e.g. SFI) to be able to provide a professional service to clients.

Evaluate projects and to account to regional/national partners to justify NWDA’s performance on specific projects.
•
Build, liaise and manage a regional team of external public and private sector organisations, procuring their inputs to secure investment projects for the North
West. Appraise the viability of potential projects and provide detailed reports of proposals. •
Establish the confidence of business decision makers and influence their decision making by selling the business case for investing in the North West.
•
Develop creative solutions for identifying/fulfilling the needs of investors through the application of lateral problem solving skills. Make recommendations of these solutions to potential investors.

Develop a good working knowledge of key business sectors, both regionally and globally, thus ensuring a professional and tailored service for clients
PLANNING AND ORGANISING • No direct staff responsibilities although there is a requirement to call upon the resources of the NWDA and external partners, involving a high degree of delegation, planning and coordination of tactics and tasks (both internal and external). • The jobholder may lead informal project teams – for example, managing and developing client visits, working closely with sub regional partners, cluster organisations, overseas offices, UKT&I and companies in the region. DECISION MAKING • •
Support Investment Manager, Business Development Manager, Sector Leader and Investment Services Team in the identification of suitable value propositions for investors utilising business knowledge. Acquires intelligent information gathered from investing businesses to appropriate bodies eg Regional Cluster Organisation to feedback and inform decision and policy making.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS • The job holder must be able to develop and manage effective and credible relationships with a wide range of contacts these will include senior staff of potential investors (CEO and Director level), to marketing consultants and North West businesses. •
A demonstrable commitment to teamwork is essential as the jobholder will achieve success through working with and via colleagues and with the Agency’s sub regional partners.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED •
Ideally educated to degree level and with some experience in a client facing business role.

Effective presentation skills, both written and oral.
•
Good IT skills – familiar with Microsoft Windows packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)
