Section II: Description of how your organisation has used enterprise to transform your community Enterprising Britain is a nationwide competition to find the most enterprising place in the UK – a place where enterprise has, over the last two years helped transform a community and led to improved economic prospects for the area. This section asks your organisation to explain how it has helped transform your place or community through enterprise and thereby improved economic and or social prospects for the area. You must be able to demonstrate that enterprise is central to the economic and social transformation of the place. Please respond to the questions below. N.B. Each question should be answered in 200 - 400 words in font size 12 1. Please give a brief overview of your organisation

2. What were the problems affecting the local area which your organisation or project has set to address?
3. What are the key interventions or projects you have run to help overcome these problems?
4. How have you helped transform the social and economic and prospects of your area? (Please provide quantitative evidence such as impact figures, number of jobs created, new businesses started and any other relevant statistics).
5. Name one success story (project or individual), which you think brings out what is special or unique about your achievement? E.g. The story of an individual who has succeeded with support of your work, or job creation in the local area or impact on the local high street.

7. Please explain in no more than 200 words why you deserve to be winner of Enterprising Britain 2008 and why you would be an appropriate role model for other places?
The seven key items judges will be looking for are:
Background to the project and summary of the challenges faced A description of the business strategy behind the project An explanation as to why the approach was innovative Information about how the project was implemented Evidence of the impact the project has had and the results achieved Details of any stakeholders or partners you worked with Details of future plans/growth/collaboration

Section III: Supporting material 1. Third-party endorsement Please attach an endorsement letter from an independent person e.g. an eminent local figure, local entrepreneur or academic, who is not directly involved in the submitted project. The letter should include an overview of why they are supporting the bid and why they believe the bid deserves to win. Maximum 2 pages
