• In the beginning…… • A need to rationalise tourist information centre support. • Inherited budgets £1.6 million - £400,000 spent running 4 TIC’s and grants to 19 others across the County.
• Actions……………. • Move 4 owned TIC’s to new management/ ownership. • Provide “tools to do the job” i.e. DMS, websites. • Grant fund all (including 4 previously run) on more equitable basis.
• Story so far…………………… • Newquay TIC re-opened and moved to Town Council ownership. • Falmouth TIC – 3 options including a staff run CIC, a local shop and ferry operator. • St Ives – Town Council will re-open as seasonal office with self service information. • Penzance – local tourism association joining forces with National Trust to provide Tourist Information Centre and ticket office.

Willing partners who understand tourism! An understanding of what TIC’s do. Flexibility to “make it work”. Tackle the dreaded “TUPE”. Support delivery don’t dump!
