he lights are back on Broadway! We have missed our patrons and this season we have big things to celebrate! Not only have we cultivated an exceptional season, but this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College. From Broadway and gallery events to concerts, artist series and speakers, we have something for everyone! Let’s not forget the region’s premier professional orchestra, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of our new conductor, Todd Craven. The NFSO is celebrating its 35th Anniversary! Over 2 million patrons have enjoyed our beautiful venues over the past 24 years and we hope this year you will join us. Scooby Doo! and the Lost City of Gold In Scooby-Doo! and The Lost City of Gold, fans of music, discovery, and gh-gh-ghosts! won’t need a passport to travel with Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Velma to Alta Luz, a fictitious South American town where ghostly sightings of La Dama de Oro (The Lady In Gold) threaten to scare attendees away from the annual music festival and Incan sun god celebration.

The Simon & Garfunkel Story The Simon & Garfunkel Story is touring North America again this year! Using huge projection photos and original film footage, featuring a full live band performing all the hits including ‘Mrs. Robinson’, ‘Cecilia’, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, ‘Homeward Bound’ and many more. The immersive concert-style theater show chronicles the amazing journey shared by the folk-rock duo, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. It tells the story from their humble beginnings as Tom & Jerry to their incredible success as one of the best-selling music groups of the ‘60’s to their dramatic split in 1970. It culminates with the famous “The Concert in Central Park” reunion in 1981 with more than half a million fans in attendance.

That Golden Girls Show! ‘That Golden Girls Show!’ is a brand-new show that parodies classic Golden Girls moments - with puppets! Get set for an evening of cheesecake, laughter, jazzercise, shoulder pads, sex, and the elegant art of the quick-witted put down. From Sophia’s get-rich-quick schemes, to Rose’s tales from St. Olaf, Blanche’s insatiable hunt for men and the Fountain of Youth, and Dorothy’s daily struggle to make sense of her life. Devoted fans will fondly remember our four girls from Miami, and for the first-timers, this will be a joyful introduction to the brilliance of that television series.

An Officer and a Gentleman AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, based on the Oscar-winning film starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger, is a breathtaking production that celebrates triumph over adversity and includes one of the most iconic and romantic endings ever portrayed on screen. Featuring the Grammy Award winning, #1 hit single ‘Up Where We Belong’, and a score based on the 1980’s catalogue of music that gave voice to a generation, the live stage production is a new adaptation by multiple Tony Awards nominee Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), based on the original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart. The musical is directed by Scanlan with choreography by Patricia Wilcox (Motown, A Night with Janis Joplin).

President’s Speaker Series:

Deborah Norville - October 8, 2021 Two-time Emmy© Award winner Deborah Norville brings the “take-home” value audiences love. Norville does it every day for nearly 5 million viewers as the anchor of Inside Edition. Norville is an advocate for self-care. While she advocates for others, she has turned that same focus inward losing over 30 pounds by cutting sugar out of her diet and undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid nodule. On the other side of both of those health issues, Norville speaks candidly about her health struggles and how she continues to better herself on a daily basis.

Trey Gowdy - February 4, 2022 Trey Gowdy was a federal and state prosecutor for 16 years prosecuting the full range of crime including murder, homicide by child abuse, armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking and the murder of a federal witness. He was recognized statewide for excellence in domestic violence and drunk driving prosecutions, nationally for excellence in death penalty litigation, and by victim groups for his unfailing commitment to victim rights. As a prosecutor he also ran diversion programs, expanded Drug Court, and implemented a protocol for expectant mothers addicted to controlled substances.

Charles Payne - April 8, 2022 Charles’ passion for the stock market began when he was 14 years old. He told his mother then that one day, he would work on Wall Street. Charles got his start in the industry in research at EF Hutton in 1985. After two years, he switched gears and accepted a position with boutique brokerage firm, Greentree Securities. It was there that he first saw a niche for independent and timely equity advice, which led to the creation of Wall Street Strategies. Charles has become well sought after by many highly respected finance-oriented radio, web and television programs. On June 2, 2014, Fox Business Network launched Charles’ new show Making Money with Charles Payne which is featured daily at 2pm EST.

Halloween Spooktacular This family-friendly concert will be a treat for everyone! Come dressed in costume and enjoy food trucks at Mattie Kelly Arts Center before the concert. You’ll recognize familiar symphonic music celebrating the season with pieces from such movies as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Fantasia to many well-known excerpts from works such as Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. “Give ‘em pumpkin to talk about” by showing off your costume in a parade along with other fun surprises for the entire family.

The evening’s program also celebrates the magic and strength of the sea with some of the most robust works written for orchestra including the “Storm” movement of Benjamin Britten’s “Four Sea Interludes” from Peter Grimes and the epic La Mer by French composer Claude Debussy.
