Wintry Winds
A Silent Cold
by Koko
by Yoav
over the past months
an eerily cold winter’s day
the winter cold at its peak
old trees so tall like a mountain
wintry winds flowing through the
silent laughs of lost children
forest, freezing anything and everything
pond freezes from the endless cold
winds destroying, winds freezing
frog panics as one falls; in
howl(ing) wolves calling for help in their packs, freezing
a crack in the silence jumps another, but so fails to save the first
rage flows through their veins: a strange determination
into the lake two more go
with no reason, excluding instinct
pond still frozen, he saves them
no(t) just the wolves: everything, whether in the wild or in civilization leaves rustle, only to land on the ground and repeat, for years on end blow away, seek shelter
the hunter walks by splash splash splash; out they come silence again again silence ~ inspired by Matsuo Bashō
~ inspired by Natsume Soseki Koko is a current sixth-grader at PJA. In addition to writing, he enjoys drawing, running, and boxing.
Yoav is a current sixth-grader at PJA. In addition to writing, he enjoys drawing, coding, and biking.
