Editor’s Note Has this summer flown by or is it just us? As we head into another school year, we’re left with many unknowns in regard to how the Delta variant may affect our fall plans. Even as we’ve been dealing with this very different reality, life continues to go on around us. We’ve lost loved ones; celebrated births and unions; moved residences, changed jobs... One thing that Covid has not taken from us is the ability to celebrate our loved ones. Birthdays are a big deal in my family and we view them as an opportunity to let the birthday kiddo know that we are so very lucky to know them. Each person is unique and adds value to our lives. Remember to celebrate your loved ones every single day. We’re all going through a lot and it never hurts to be reminded that you make an impact in the lives of others! We’ll see you in October with the first School Open House Guide of the 2021-22 school year. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy! Cheers,
Mary

2021-2022 Birthday Celebration Guide Covid-19 has made for seemingly endless change. It has affected every industry in ways that we never could have imagined; and we are still in the thick of it. As we plan for our children’s birthday celebrations, things look a bit different this year. Some of our favorite businesses have closed permanently while others are closed temporarily, but many are open and need our support now more than ever. We can still order birthday treats from our favorite bakery or ice cream shop and we can still visit many of our favorite venues in smaller numbers; even if they are not able to offer their traditional birthday party options right now. Covid has not canceled birthdays, but a bit more patience and creativity are needed to make the day special right now. Be sure to check websites and Facebook pages for the most up-to-date information.

Loog Electric Guitar
Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals ricenorthwestmuseum.org
We have been big fans of Loog’s acoustic guitars for years now and were thrilled to find out they were coming out with an electric version. If you’re not familiar with Loog, the company began in 2011 with a Kickstarter. They create professional quality instruments that are sized appropriately for kids. The guitars come in three sizes, with the smallest being appropriate for ages 3+ and the biggest for 12+. Adults can easily play the larger models as well! The electric guitars are even better than we could have imagined and the newest have a built-in amp and speaker. What’s even more fun is that their app will get your kiddo started right out of the gates, including helping them tune the strings before they jump into lessons. Bonus: You can support local and buy your Loog at Piccolo Mondo, Mudpuddles, Grasshopper, Oodles 4 Kids, Huckleberry Kids Rooms, Hammer & Jacks or Kazoodles! $149+,
